Dentist check-up

I’ve seen the dentist twice in the past month and have to have my troublesome tooth out on Monday. No over-the-top PPE and I felt quite safe.
My only concern is that my dentist referred me to have the tooth out in hospital but was told that the NHS now requires her to try the difficult extraction. If, as expected, she can’t do it, I can then be referred and wait 2 or 3 months for a hospital appointment.
This is crazy but I think the NHS is steadily reducing treatment available for many conditions.

Just persuaded our dental surgery to book me an appointment late August. Relieved as a hole in a tooth is getting bigger and twinges daily. Unfortunately our dentist has left the practice so a bit of a leap into the unknown. It seems our practice is only offering an appointment if the patient asks for and has a reason for one.

We have had our checks up- all went well but it was the swiftest check up and the swiftest £75 I have ever had/spent - including £7 each for PPE - we were given one paper mask each - it was BUPA so hey ho he's a good dentist and doesn't scare me when I have treatment. He thanked us both for coming as many are staying away.

Thank you all for your encouraging replies. Going to the dentist doesn't bother me at all normally, it's just the worry over this awful virus.

I’ve been to the dentist and found the whole experience to be without fault. I can’t think of any way in which the procedures could have been improved.

DH and I both had check ups last week, which had been postponed twice. We haven't been going anywhere much so had to trust that all would be OK.

Hygienist, dentist and nurse all wore aprons, visors, gloves and masks (we didn't wear masks for obvious reasons). We had to knock and wait to be let in then sanitize our hands. No queue in the waiting room just a single chair outside the surgery. Everyone was pleasant and friendly as usual.

DH had to go back for a procedure that required a drill and, consequently, spray in the air. Dentist and nurse were in full PPE but they were laughing about it. I have to go this week.

No need to feel nervous. I think they've thought it all out carefully and you should be fine.

My husband went with an infection. He said the dentist was very well prepared and he felt quite safe.

It will be fine Littleannie your dentist will be well prepared. I had remaining work done on 2 crowns at the end of May and no problems. ( France)
