It's a nice idea in principal to have these specific opening times but as one old lady said to me when she was told Asda were opening 6 am to 9pm for the over 70's:

"That's no good to me as my bus pass does not start till 9.30 am."

It's such a good point and will effect many so unless they allow them to get on public transport early those vulnerable elderly will miss out.

What’s the point of a special slot for the elderly or NHS staff.
When they eventually get into the stores, there’s nothing there anyway.
I have given up going to the big supermarkets and getting almost all of what I need from local coop and corner shop.
Much better stocked than the giants.

I am sure the crazy shopping will calm down. Apparently there is a billion pounds extra shopping in people's houses. Soon a lot of folk won't go out shopping because they have more than enough food ( and toilet rolls!). Then the rest of us will be able to get all the things we need.

How on earth can i self isolate. I've got an elderly mother who can't go out. If she does it takes twice as long as she has copd and coughs and wheeze. I need my own shopping, I need to babysit or my dd cannot work, Dr says there's no shopping slots for home delivery for the next month. I have ashsma and am wheezing too. I need my medication which means going to pharmacy. There's nothing in place to back up these rules

I got a few things for the elderly man who lives next door. I took the stuff round, then he said he was going out! Some of his mates were meeting up at the park, and they were each taking drinks/snacks and having a picnic!

That’s my situation, I’m shopping for my elderly parents, and out on a limb!

I went to a Morrison's near me (3 miles away) this morning, and they were very well-stocked, apart from no toilet rolls, disinfectant, chicken breasts or minced beef (11am), but I got all the things I need- eggs, milk, bread, meat, butter, vegetables.

As a housebound disabled person there is NO action from any supermarket yet to help me and others similar.
I have depended on online deliveries for years and now I can't get booking slots.....also all the supermarkets are miles away so it would be a great being deal to ask a stranger to help. My nearest neighbours have given up driving in the last year

What are we supposed to do if we cannot go out?

I've been trying to get a delivery from Waitrose online shopping. They don't even give you an estimated delivery time. Message: No delivery slots available.

So no food in the shops and no food online. What to do?

It should have been obvious to the supermarket what panic buying would lead to and it should have been stopped immediately.

Our Tesco had an hour for elderly 9-10 Friday but not much left as they had already been open for three hours. In addition there were many under 70s anyway and no checks being made.

My most recent email from Sainsburys says that I will get a slot next week as I am 75 and housebound and I have a delivery pass that proves I am a regular customer. I have put my shopping list online and I have requested no more than 2 of any items. Apparently we can start booking slots tomorrow but how far ahead will the slot be?

There were literally at least a couple of thousand at Walsall Tesco NHS this morning, same Dudley - Dudley photo not mine, one I was sent, hoping things calm a bit in the next week or two, I have NHS card and will shop for others as I am reasonably stocked

Sainsbury's are reserving slots for pensioners from 8-9 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. NHS and emergency workers are to be admitted before the stores open at 7.30. Their new regular opening hours are 8-8, to allow more time for shelf replenishment.

3. I need to keep 2 m apart

Which of these wonderful supermarkets are offering that? What am I missing?

In Waitrose this morning they had a member of staff standing by the loo rolls making sure no-one took more than one pack.
Why the mad rush for loo rolls? The manufacturers have plenty

What a waste when the (obviously bored) girl could have been manning a till or stocking shelves.

I am in my 60's as is DH we both have asthma (get flu injection) and both needed steroids before Xmas for respiratory infection so are in one of the at risk groups. As is my pregnant DD. When do we shop? ?We are isolating as much as possible as advised.

Iceland in Belfast started opening early for the over 70's more than 2 weeks ago and it's great that other shops have followed suit. As a health care worker I am grateful for the chance to shop early in the morning, M&S have dedicated days for over 70 and front line workers. My son is a serving police officer who was unable to get an food after a 12 hr shift during which they too had no break. Hopefully everyone who feels the need to stockpile will now have more consideration, but I doubt it

Agree with criticism of large supermarkets, they must have been rubbing their hands with glee seeing their sales shoot through the roof, its too little too late. I'm in the over 70s 9-10 shopping slot, shelves are already empty by 9 - come on supermarkets get sorted.

After 55mins wait talked to lady at Sainsburys who said if we had used their Vulnerable page, filled in date of birth, we would be on their priority list. Not heard of this before of been asked for these details on my account. Shopped online with them for years with age & disability on delivery instructions. Still not on list! No way can i get shopping with my disability & age. So where do I go from here???

If you ask me, these dedicated slots are just PR. I despise what the supermarkets are doing - it’s just legalised profiteering
