I'm taking today quietly with my radio because we are going out tonight and I have been 'told' by DH that I must not do anything stressful while he is out for most of the day.

How is everyone?

I’m not very good on an iPad annie but I do read Kindle books on my iPad. Don’t know anything about audio books but I had a look on the internet. There seems to be an app called Audible. They seem to suggest that if you open a book in kindle and then tap the middle of the screen a little icon (like a pair of ? headphones) appears bottom right. If you click on that, then the name of the book you are reading appears in bold at the top of the screen with a little i in a circle next to it. If you click on the little i icon it comes up with text box which tells you if the book is available on the Audible app and if you want to add it to your wish list or buy it. I haven’t used it myself and don’t really know much about it but if it’s something you are interested in you could set up a new thread to ask about it. I know there are many Kindle users on GN and I’m sure someone with the appropriate skills would be able to talk you through it. I may investigate further and if I find out any more I will let you know.

May I ask? You have an iPad, I have kindle books on mine and seen there are kindle audio books but it says - for iPhone , any knowledge of this ?

How have you been today? Are you on to the killer sudoku yet or saving it for later? I nodded off in the armchair last night in the middle of watching a series on my iPad. By the time I woke up I was four episodes on from where I started ?

Doodle I am so sorry it’s still going on , how can a school tell a child to ignore bullying.

Brought back a memory of Catherine, I was summoned to the high school, into the head’s office, Catherine,age 12, had given a 14 year old boy a few thumps, I was horrified, Catherine was most indignant, ‘ he was bullying my cousin and he has asthma, I asked him to please stop, he wouldn’t so I hit him !

Thank you all for your comments. Yes annie you’re right it’s been going on a long time. He’s in secondary school and the schools response throughout has been to tell him to ignore it. It is mostly verbal abuse but still wearing. I just feel sad that his education (as well as his self esteem) has suffered because of this.

Nandalot... I frequently feel like a fraud to say I'm suffering from depression, as I've got such a lovely life. I'm very lucky, but depression and anxiety are real, no matter what. I hope you get your medication sorted out.

I've had a good day...went to work (I do enjoy my job), the Carer there sent me a text (!) to terminate her employment - she'd done 2 weeks! Not to worry, we'll manage without her. One of the volunteers has decided she can't now spare the time - fair enough, she has got her own life. I met my eldest son after work, collected his 2 girls (he's got them for the weekend), and I came home to a hot bath, a cup of tea, and a cuddle with my cat....Oh and a chat with my husband. All in all, everything's been good.

I hate bullies! I was bullied for years as was my son. They are pond life I really hope it gets sorted xxx

This makes me so cross doodle. What age is he? What is the school doing?

Feeling sad today myself. DGS being bullied again. He is a strong character but even so this daily barrage of abuse must be hard to cope with. Wish I could wrap him up in cotton wool. Fortunately his mum and dad are brilliant but they must all get worn out by it all at times.
nandalot I hope you are ok. I can understand you not wanting to go out. When I feel down it is hard to be interested in other things but perhaps your DH is right and it will do you good. I hope so.
nanny25 the love we show to our pets is an indication of the sort of people we are. I am so sorry about your kitten and not surprised you are upset.

Here there is no judging of why a person is depressed or has anxiety, there is understanding and support and encouragement

nandalot dont feel like a fraud we all deal will many different issues on here...me I'm grieving over my kitten that was stolen 10 weeks ago. Some people would dismiss this as pathetic but not once on this group have I been judged xxx

Nandalot every persons account is valid, every life is precious, you are not a fraud ?

Thank you for your replies. I am under a consultant for my thyroid so doctor says he can’t be involved at moment. It is fluctuating because they are trying to get dose right. I said I can’t go to doctor because I am already having the depression type medication prescribed for other things. Also I feel a fraud especially when I read of other people’s problems on here. Hugs to everyone.

Annie that looks like a good result, well worth challenging what was possibly a standard letter. Good for you. Hope they agree and do it before the end of the summer .

Nandalot that sounds horrible. Thyroid issues can cause depression so you need to get it resolved. Do you take any supplements/health shop stuff? Things which include iodine and St John's Wort etc should be avoided and could be the reason for the fluctuation. I think it is unusual for this to happen so there must he a reason. People are usually hypo or hyper, not swinging from one to the other.

It is raining hard here so my positives for the day are that it will help where I re-seeded the lawn and give me an excuse not to go out and do what I should be doing today.

Nandalot, it's a tricky one isn't it? Sometimes you feel better for doing something and sometimes its overwhelming and wrong.
How to tell which it is? Trust your gut I think.

Thyroid problems can cause depression and anxiety, I have no medical knowledge but when I was going through a rough patch my GP did tests for thyroid.

May I ask? Why can’t you go to a doctor?

Please never apologise for posting here. Perhaps someone will join the thread later and have some experience of thyroid problems. Post here as often as you want to x

Hope no one minds me posting on this thread. I feel I am starting on the slippery slope of depression again. My thyroid is playing up (veering from over to under etc) and I am being monitored and medicated for it. I wonder whether that is what is causing this. I can’t stir myself to do anything at the moment. We are due to go away for the weekend with friends and visit gardens and I have tried to persuade DH we should cry off but he is insisting we go. I really feel I have no energy for it. (He is v. supportive and thinks I will feel better for it.) I can’t go to doctor. Am already on medication for panic attacks and my migraine medication is an anti-depressant. Sorry everyone, just needed a moan. I don’t have energy even to read but at least can pop into GN!

Such and up down day , woke very early, for some reason this morning and yesterday morning I woke and had anxiety, strange feeling because I was half asleep, anyone
experienced this ?

Had the assessment at 12.30 , in the morning I was reading the threads and had a terribly upsetting post. Disolved in tears but had to get myself together.

Had the assessment, the occupational therapist was very kind, agreed I needed the hand rail and even recommended
it extended to the end of the path so I could ‘do the walk ‘ to try to stop the wretched muscle wastage, I will know if the council agrees in three weeks.

Slept this afternoon, so sorry I haven’t posted .

Will chat tomorrow, you seem to be doing well
