Just had some bad news re DiL

Sorry for such bad news craftycat but as others have said, stay positive. My SIL had ovarian cancer 15 years ago and had a total hysterectomy with everything removed. She died recently but from a totally unrelated illness.

This must be so worrying for you- I just can't imagine. So my heart goes out to you and wish your dil the very best, and the best treatment.

Before I retired from the NHS women with womb cancer when caught early were cured after the womb and ovaries were removed. This was before 2000, and we've advanced even further these past 19 years.
I send my best wishes and live in hope that your DiL will overcome this dreadful disease.x

Sorry to hear this news. You must be very shocked and upset but I'm sure you'll be a big support to your family over the coming months. Good news that you don't live too far away and that you can help with the children. Stay strong and keep posting on here if it helps. Take courage from the good news stories. As others have said, there is lots they can do now to treat all kinds of cancers, so try to stay positive. Sending you lots of love.

My thoughts are with you too as you digest this frightening news but as others have said there are so many treatments out there cancer is no longer the death sentence it used to be. My niece was diagnosed with breast cancer at 31 and 4 years on is now clear. Your family will need support but you will get through it.

I am so sorry Craftycat but if it's any help I was diagnosed with this 18 years ago. I had a full hysterectomy and have had no recurrence. I appreciate that everyone is different, but I understand that if it is at a relatively early stage it is one of the more curable cancers.

Such a shock craftycat but take heart from other posts. Treatment is very effective now so fingers crossed all will be well. It's good you live quite close and are able to help and support them, look after yourself too. All good wishes from me as well.

My friends daughter was diagnosed was 3 months ago with the same at 38 (2 children 3 and 1). She was told it hadn’t spread and underwent a full hysterectomy. Following the op she was told they had got all of it but as a precaution would be scanned every 6 months for a five of years. She needed a lot of help due to the ages of the children but is continuing to improve daily and is full of optimism.

So sorry to hear this Craftycat but as others have said there are so many more treatments and cures these days. I am, myself, undergoing treatment for cancer. It is not the bogeyman it used to be.

So sorry to read your news, Craftycat. I know exactly how you're feeling but don't despair as many cancers are treatable so try and stay positive. Hope the test results on Monday are encouraging.

I am so sorry to hear this craftycat, what a terrible blow to her and all of you. I don't know of anyone who has had cancer in that area, but like others, I know of several people who are in long-term remission from various cancers, with one of them being around 12 years clear from bowel cancer.

The outlook is really not as bleak these days as it once was, and I do so hope and pray that your dear DiL will get the right treatment quickly and be on the road to a full recovery soon.

Oh my dear craftycat, how awful , but bear in mind, medical science has improved so much. that most cancers are treatable and even curable. Even so, this is a difficult time for all of you. I'm thinking of you all and sending your daughter in law healing hugs.
I actually personally know at least 5 people who are in complete remission , from various cancers and one of them at least 15 years clear. There is a lot of optimism now and it is not the dreaded C of a few years ago. Wish your daughter inlaw complete success with her treatment

I have a friend in a similar situation. It seems that most cancers are now treatable so there is much cause to be optimistic. This is a very difficult stage when you don't know what you, as a family, are dealing with. The best you can do is to keep positive for your own sake. It sounds like you have a good relationship all round and that will certainly help get through this difficult time. Sending you best wishes.

My friend's sister is starting her second dose of chemo today having had her uterus removed a few weeks ago. so far so good but she is exhausted. She is a farmer's wife so it is doubly difficult.
