Just had some bad news re DiL

So good you are not too far away. Wishing you all the strength you need right now

Sorry for such bad news craftycat but as others have said, stay positive. My SIL had ovarian cancer 15 years ago and had a total hysterectomy with everything removed. She died recently but from a totally unrelated illness.

I am so sorry that your DIL has received such bad news. Hopefully, the cancer has not spread and cancer treatment will be successful. She is lucky that she will have support from you and others to help her manage caring for her and her family.

My Mum was diagnosed with it but lived for over 40 years after her surgery, even surviving a breast cancer op a few years later.

I hope you'll feel strong enough to come back and tell us what the prognosis is Craftycat because we're all thinking about you and sending strength and love to you and your dil.

My friend's daughter was diagnosed with cervical cancer about 4 years ago in her mid 30s when her son was just a toddler. My friend was absolutely shattered and distraught but did her weeping in private with friends as she was determined to stay strong for her DD who required a full hysterectomy and a long period of recovery. Her DD is now taking a degree in nursing.
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013, 2 things re my reaction. I wanted the 'thing' sorted asap and got frustrated with the tests etc.; I found the help of friends who'd been through it very useful and also wise words from Macmillan counsellor. I also wanted to be normal and not regarded as someone who was sick /needed support/etc but that depends entirely on the individual. Best wishes to your DiL.

We will know more after Monday- I just hope it does not take too long to get her treated. I think if she knows something is happening she will feel better.
It may sound weak but I am going to have a good private day at home today to have a good cry before I have to put on an act for the DGC when they come to stay on Sunday/Monday.
The 7 year old - a girl- is very suspicious so we have to be very careful not to say too much. Because they lost their other GM to cancer 3 years ago & my 10 year old DGS lost a school friend to it just last week we don't want them to know what it is as they associate it with death not recovery.
We will get through this I am sure- I daren't believe anything else TBH.

I am so sorry to hear your news, so difficult to keep a brave face on for the sake of the grandchildren. Please feel free to vent your worries and fears on here, there are many who will be able to offer hope, optimism, experience and simple support. That is what GN is good at.

Hopefully she will be able to have a hysterectomy and that will be the end of it. Stay strong. She is lucky to have a nice supportive MIL.

This is indeed a difficult time for you all. I hope that the right treatments will be speedily available to get her through all this. Stay strong for the DGC - but look after yourself too. People keep saying that to me - but I know how hard it is to do.

Had some good news yesterday. CT scan showed nothing more so it looks quite straightforward now. They are booking her in for May rather than immediately now & fairly confident it is going to be straightforward.
Seeing specialist on Tuesday to get final details. We are all feeling a lot better.

What a relief after such a worry craftycat. Enjoy weekend with GCs now.

Crafty my mother had uterine cancer when I was still at school. She had a hysterectomy and went on to live healthily until she was 95. Her operation was in the late 1950s. I’m sorry you have this awful worry but let’s hope everything will turn out well.

Just seen your post and so glad things look a bit better than you originally thought. I have a friend who had womb cancer about 15 years ago and is fine and running round after her DGC
