Just out of the steamy bathroom trying to breathe. Head banging like a drum and I have to drive back from Scotland homewards in a few hours. Hoping for a better night. Last night was spent resting my head on the window bottom in the cold trying to get the mucosa to shrink.
CH in the bath coughing in Olympic proportions. Minor inconvenience knowing what a lot of gransnetters' are suffering with but I (rather selfishly) do not want my MRI cancelled again this week.
Sorry for resurrecting this thread...are you all ok now? Am a lot better except for the horrible productive cough.. aching with it...sounds awful.. thinking may need to see the doctor..anyone else found that their cough is lingering?
Yes Riverwalk I had the flu jab...had I not I would have sworn this was flu...had flu once in 1979 living in South Africa and to me...this lurgy felt pretty similar...
Hi, we are both getting over the lurgy here, Dh a lot worse than me, he is still coughing after 3 weeks, my cough has gone, but I have zero energy! While he seems fine, I just have no energy or enthusiasm to do anything. We went out for a walk this morning, thinking it might help, but it's just made me more tired. Suppose I'll just have to go with it for now.We both had the flu jab, but it wasn't flu we've had, it wasn't bad enough.Just a strange virus.
Thank goodness someone mentioned Day and Night Nurse. Coming out the other side now but this medication has been a life saver. Have done nothing really for four days. Living in jogging bottoms and big, comfy dressing gown. Just hope I don't get the relapse now! Sending best wishes to everyone still full Lurginess! ?
I was beginning to feel okay last weekend but not so good again this morning finding it an effort to move about and feel as though I could sleep for a week. I'm pretty restricted in what I can take because of being on warfarin. It's a bind !
I had the cough/cold lurgy in October. Just about got over that and then went down with the stomach bug. Now I've got the original lurgy again. Not a good start to the New Year!!
Visiting GCs should carry a government health warning!
Grandchildren are bad for your health. After a month of wiping snotty noses I am now wiping mine...or did I catch it from you lot? Sent DH out for honey and he came back with golden syrup (forgot his glasses!)
My turn now. ☹️ Nasal spray (Otrivine) is good for night- time emergency. Not to be depended on for beyond three nights in a row, but I find it works well. Day Nurse medicine good for the days. Strepsils and Halls usually help with cough, but I'm not at that stage yet....
Anyway, wishing you all the very best possible 2019.
Felt much better this morning after 3 days of night nurse , cleaned house , ate a hearty breakfast then sat down to plan my New Year lunch .... started shivering , had to run to the toilet with the skits . Spent the rest of the day in bed with electric blanket on . Up now and feeling as right as rain ! All very strange .. will have New Years dinner tomorrow !
mumofmadboys ..it's completely debilitating isn't it..I just went out with the dog to get some sunshine/fresh air..and it's floored me..ALL get well soon
Still got IT!! feel so lethargic..ribs sore from coughing..where is all this ruddy mucus coming from...pints of it...sent H for some painkillers...even cut the front off the old box so that he would get the correct ones...he didn't..got completely different ones... flipping useless..being off colour makes me short tempered..aaagh
Starting to feel better today although still coughing, but it's been a very long haul. 2 weeks + 3 days of feeling awful, could this be flu? Both of us had the flu vaccination for the under 65s this year.
Yes, the dreaded lurgy struck here and is now into its 3rd week! The most awful facial pain with sinusitis. Where does all that gunk even come from??? Even forced to take drastic action and go to the drs!!! Now after 4 days of antibiotics I'm beginning to feel better. Still have some pain though and taking analgesics once during the day and at bedtime to survive.
Please let us all recover to full health very soon!!!
