Annodomini my dad sadly died in the same way as your dad and I wanted to have my aorta checked. As it happened it was checked for another reason and luckily no problems there so not always a bad thing!

Yup! I have almost always found that when they look for something they find something else. Try not to worry, I think if most of use were put under a microscope they would find something!!

I was advised to have a scan for aortic aneurism because it can be hereditary and my dad died when his ruptured. The scan showed no aneurism but 'numerous gallstones' which I'd never even suspected and which, so far, haven't given me any trouble.

Ignorance can be bliss. OH has an "incidentaloma" in his right lung and we traipse back each year for a CT, then follow-up. They always say it has not grown and to come back next year. We have wasted a lot of time on this - I think it appeared on a scan for some other reason.

Please try not to worry about this - if we knew everything that was going on inside us we would never rest easy in our beds.

I'd rather know, my auto immune condition can lead to vascular dementia, I'm only 64 but I've planned ahead and have my finances and future health care mapped out and my kids are fully aware of what might happen. We'll deal with whatever we have to. I've discussed it with my Gp and as he says some people who he thinks would develop dementia never do and the least likely ones sometimes take him by surprise, there is just no point worrying about it.

I m with you Bluesky I don’t want to know definitely I d rather paddle on in ignorance if they told me I d be worrying myself silly unless it was something that could be reversed with intervention

Ask your GP what they propose doing as what you describe is pressure on the brain and only if left will it cause other problems. Drainage or a stent.shunt I think. It's reversible.

We are all so different BlueSky I would want to know, I like to plan ahead.
