Must be honest I didn't really know about this. Why hasn't it been broadcast and displayed more so as to give the public time to discuss it. It must not be allowed to be sneaked in.

Is this the change which is taking place in Devon? I have seen a report and thought it looked like a big step towards partially privatising the NHS.

It looks very open to confusion and the possibility of falling between two stools. Something needs to be done, though, so perhaps it's worth a try. Why does no-one stand up and say the problems in the NHS are due to there being too many people using it? I'm not being racist or anti-immigration here (I hope) but it seems obvious to me that that is the case. We therefore need fewer people or more money. Come on government, get it sorted.

In theory it sounds very reasonable but constant reorganisation of any organisation is what drains so much money which could be better used elsewhere.

One of the central aims is for the NHS and Social Services to work together. I worked in a joint unit several years ago as part of o pilot reorganisation. It didn't really work as the funding was not joined up and neither side were willing to give up any 'territory'. Perhaps this system will make that happen. It is another reorganisation which always costs time and money, there have been so many.

I too cannot understand why there is not an outcry. In theory they make sense, as the idea is that social and medical care should tie up and co-operate. However there is nothing to stop them being farmed out to private organisations.

I have only read a brief article but would be highly suspicious myself. It another Americanism we can well leave to the Americans .
