I was supposed to be having day surgery on my foot last Tuesday. This was my second surgery as I had my other foot done last year. As I was to be virtually non weight bearing for 8 weeks, this involved a great deal of house, mind and body preparation. It would be a long and difficult recovery.
After a sleepless night, I was sat in on my hospital bed at the crack of dawn, with arrows drawn on my foot, when they gave me my first ever ECG - I am on blood pressure medication. Apparently I should have had one last time. This showed a number of abnormal readings and the operation was cancelled. I have since seen my GP and have an urgent referral to a cardiologist. The GP was fairly reassuring as I have no symptoms. He did however give me a second ECG which was similar to the first.
The wait for an appointment could be very long and I am rather scared - not sleeping and somehow need to hold it together and cope! The recovery from my last surgery and the build up to the next one have been very stressful and I am running out of reserves. OH keeps telling me not to worry - would that it was that easy!
Any advice much appreciated.
