I have had both and there is nothing to worry about with the procedures. Please be reassured about that.

I can understand you might be worried abut the results, but please do not worry about the procedures.

Colonoscopy is really not bad - the worst bit is the preparation beforehand to clean you out! You really have to be near a loo for 24 hours. You will be given information about what you can eat etc for a couple of days before hand. During the procedure you will be given a bit of sedation and also some pain relief if you need it (I didn`t) and then you can actually watch what the camera sees on a tv screen - if you want to. The staff will also do their best to preserve your dignity at all times.
Afterwards you will have to rest a bit to led the sedation wear off then you can go home to a well deserved meal

I had both to investigate anaemia two weeks ago. I took the advice of Gransnetters on a previous thread (Colonoscopy). You should have been given full instructions on how to prepare in the days before the procedure. The liquid you have to drink was not as bad as I had feared and the procedure was over more quickly than I had thought - very little discomfort. My results were all fine. I had both done on the same appointment and had no problem , the clear drink is the worst bit and even that is bearable , do not leave the toilet !

What IS bad is to go through the whole preparation for a Colonoscopy, get to the hospital 50 miles away,and find that oops! they only have you down for a Gastroscopy .

Go for the sedation - you might not even feel it!

I have had a colonoscopy and did not need pain relief or sedation. The prep was the worst part and luckily my local is only 2 miles or so away and a friend drove me there and home again afterwards. I was lucky, the result was negative.
