'hay' fever remedies

I had that injection too grannypiper (or similar!). I used to have really severe hay fever, and agree it was brilliant! I could feel it working almost immediately. Unfortunately I was told they don't give it any more as it is a steroid - and probably the reason I have osteoporosis now!

I'm not sure I 'believe' in homeopathy .SussexGirl but hey, ho! I'll try anything most things once...nothing ventured?

Google Helios hay fever remedy. It's a homeopathic preparation -no side effects, sleepiness etc. It does help some people. You will probably need to buy it direct from them.

I have been thinking the same Anya ( although the lurgy I have at the moment isn't that, as it's also cough and sore throat and catarrh) but for the past three years from April onwards and also May and some of June, I have the rhinitis constantly, and think now that it's caused by tree pollen as we have two towering silver birches nearby, and overhanging our garden, which seem to cast off a fine mist of the stuff.
I have been wondering what to take, as definitely don't want to feel sleepy during the day.

Anya I suffered from rhinitis/hay fever for a couple of years before I realised what it was. Non-stop streaming nose, so much so that my arms would ache with all the blowing and wiping! Because I never had an itchy throat, or particularly watery eyes, I never thought it was anything but a 'summer cold'.

For the past couple of days my nose has been itchy and eyes a bit sore so no doubt there's something in the air!

I have tried every medication, nasal spray, etc under the sun and nothing seems to work, to be honest. I do take over the counter stuff occasionally, after asking the pharmacist what's the latest cure. For a particularly runny nose I take a decongestant as it dries it up.

lotradine and ceterizine often sold as benedryl, claratin etc

lotrisone or cetirizine which are sold under a range of brand names. Please be aware of what you are buying as i have seen the same tablets selling for £9 for 7 tablets

The best remedy i ever found was annual injection it was like a miracle cure, i could stop taking the tablets that i had to take all year round, stop using the nasal spray and eye drops, pity my RAF doctor forgot to tell me that in the long term it increased the risk of brittle bone osteoarthritis and goodness knows what else.
I have tried everything over the years but the only things that have helped are the usual trio of tablets/nasal spray/eye drops.Make sure you get the right tablets as they are both so different. The cheapest place to buy them is poundstretchers 79p for 14 (the pil no is the same as the ones from the doctor) Goodluck, i hope you find what works for you
