Would strongly recommend getting GP to have a look at it. S/he should offer to treat it especially if it is growing and being rubbed. You can then decide whether you want it treated. I am plagued with them and gave up wearing jewellery because of the ones round my neck. I had had them frozen off before - completely painless. However a few weeks ago one on my chest started growing alarmingly. My GP said tying or snipping was the favoured treatment now. He got rid of most of them and reassured me that the big one was unlikely to be sinister. I was scared too but I'm glad I went.

Goodness, I had no idea that they were so common. I bought something on the internet called Medosan, which you are supposed to paint on at night and in the morning. I think it would work if only I could remember to use it regularly!

Be very careful using tea tree oil - excellent stuff but use with care if you use it neat, being very careful to get it just on the tag. perhaps applying it with a cotton wool bud would help with accuracy.

I had a skin tag on my back - near where my bra fastened - for many many years. In fact my children used to refer to it as mummy's rice crispie!

As it tended to 'catch' against my bra, I mentioned it to my GP while I was visiting him about a more serious matter, and he told me to wait until I had to have surgery and then ask if it could be removed at the same time! There was no surgery planned!
My mum tried to remove it by tying it tightly with medicated cotton thread but the thread kept working its way undone.
So...... I learnt to live with it - but not love it!

Then ..... only last year - about 30 years later, I happened to mention it while I was having facial electrolysis and it came up during discussion with my practitioner. She immediately asked me to whip up my t-shirt and there it was gone - fast and painless. Sorted!

I did miss it ... but only for a very short while!

Again, thank you everyone who has replied ... lots of different remedies, but it looks like I should really go to my gp and ask if they'll take it off.... but then again... maybe I'll just try another remedy first .

Several years ago I went to visit my dear father (DF on here I presume?). He wasn't in when I arrived, but had left a note to say he was over the road in he pub. Sure enough when I walked in he was there propping up the bar. I hadn't seen him for a few months and he had developed a skin tag under his eye. I went up and gave him a hug, then said "what's that thing on your face?" and plucked it off! The look on the bar-man's face when he turned round to see my DF with blood pouring down his face! (That's the way we do things in our family!)

Many NHS practices will no longer offer to perform procedures such as this. If yours does, go for it. Incidentally, I had an ugly one under my arm which I probably stupidly snipped off with scissors. Wasn't easy to do, but it's never regrown.

I have used Teatree oil on a - what looked like a tag - on my breast and it has totally disappeared. I dabbed it straight on from the bottle, morning and night.

I used to have so many skin tags under my boobs so took to scrubbing gently with an exfoliating glove or loofah. No problems since.

I had a big one in my bra line and asked the Dr to look at it as it was growing. He took it off for me though mentioned that he shouldn't be doing it as its considered to be cosmetic surgery. It took a while to heal as it was rubbed by bra daily, but not painful.

I bought skin tag remover from Amazon. Applied it, tied cotton around it and put a plaster over it. It was on my neck and was catching in clothing jewellery etc. I changed the plaster and reapplied lotion daily. It fell off within a week. Would do it again. No fuss, no problem.

I have one on my eyelid! Has anyone else had one removed successfully from their eyelid please?

I've had two skin tags removed at my local surgery years ago by a doctor who specialised in that sort of thing. One which was no my shoulder was quite large and I had to have a couple of stiches as well but nothing painful. However when I went back when some were getting fairly large around my neck they wouldn't do it as I was told it was 'cosmetic' I suppose NHS cuts were beginning to take effect and they had to start prioritising medical procedures.

Anyway the ones around my neck were growing quickly and would get in the way of jewellery etc and just looked unsightly as well. For a Christmas present one year my OH treated my to a procedure at Harley St where I had them all lasered off. I had little scabs all over my neck for a while and wore a loose scarf to disguise them but it was well worth it. I would do that now rather than go back to my local GP if any more appear. I think the local GP would do it if any were rubbing under a bra strap and causing bleeding.

I'm sure I read on a Mumsnet thread that you can paint them with clear nail varnish and they fall off. I'm sure it even worked for some. Can't say I've tried it, got quite a few but they are not bothering me at the moment. Not sure about whether it has to be clear. Suppose that's least unobtrusive. Imagine purple/red/black blobs dotted around. Nice!! ?

I have 5 of them on my eyelids and saw a specialist who refused to remove them. Apparently I have several more coming through. I hate the blessed things but guess I'll have to learn to live with them. I hope you have more success.

I had one in the same place as you, Sheena, and my doctor took it off in the surgery. Completely pain free.

I had one on my groin and as it got rubbed by my underwear the GP arranged for me to have it removed. It was done by another GP who has experience with that sort of thing. As yours is being caught under your bra you could justify getting it removed medically.

Advanced electrolysis is the way forward.

It's a marvel - great for those small capillaries on your nose too or little moles which are ok to remove. Tiny milia can be treated too.

See if there's a clinic in your area.

I had a small one on my neck I dabbled tea tree oil on a couple of times a day and after a week it disappeared but I've also used lemon juice in the past with success although it took a little longer to work

My husband bought something called TagBands through Amazon as he had several of skin tags. With my help we dealt with them one by one and they have all gone now. You would need help yourself though as you do need to see the area clearly in order to attach it. It was easier than we thought even though some of them were on for several days before they withered up and came off. He said a little discomfort was worth it because, like you, some were rubbing on clothing.

Don't (whatever you do) do what my friend did. She cut a piece of raw garlic and fastened it with an Elastoplast to her inner thigh. She replaced it every day. The result . Skin tag gone together with a nasty burn and plastic surgery with a skin graft to repair it. Ouch.

I tried a variety of home remedies to get rid of my skin tags but to no avail unfortunately. I did some research online and found HC MedSpa (http://hcmedspa.com/conditions/skin-tag) where they successfully got rid of both of mine. There was a warm sensation when the procedure was taking place but nothing painful which was a relief! Dr. was nice and talked me through the procedure beforehand as I was a little nervous. Would recommend considering if you have not found a solution yet.

Some surgeries remove them but depends what they are cutting down on.
Some beauty therapist have done further training in diathermy and can deal with them very successfully.

I've removed two with tying floss round them. I covered them with a plaster and forgot about them for a few days. They came off with the plaster, no problem.
