tired in the morning

Thanks for all your suggestions but I am monitored pretty thoroughly so far as I'm aware everything is in order notwithstanding old age creeping on.

I've had a (stable) under active thyroid for years-that's my -excuse- reason for tiredness.

Do you have an under-active thyroid ? Worth having checked out.

Sounds an awful lot like it could be a low blood sugar. Do you have a blood testing kit? The sort where you prick your finger and put tab into the machine? You could test your levels as it could be you've gone low overnight. My sister was diabetic and she would go drowsy and yawn a lot if her sugar levels were low.

A former colleague emailed to say she had been called, for the second time, to do jury service. She said she may as well get it over with as they would only postpone it.
If I were called I would have to be excused as:-
I can't hear clearly-what eh?
I have the attention span of the proverbial goldfish
After lunch, if sitting, I WILL fall asleep-no contempt of Court intended.

I'm nearly always tired in the morning as I usually have such a bad night's sleep but, at the mo, am taking Amitriptyline at about 7pm on someone's suggestion, and I do seem to sleeping slightly better.
This morning was so tired so at 7.30 thought I would just settle down for half an hour's snooze when DD2 rang from Harrogate to say traffic was virtually at a stand still due to Yorkshire Show traffic so she she thought she may as well have a chat (hands free!) while crawling along.
Am SO grateful my working days are over. . . Unlike so many poor souls, esp women deprived of their pensions, who have to keep going.

I am diabetic type 2 and have been since 1999 but haven't always experienced this.

Interesting point regarding possibility food causing it. Just googled it for my own interest and while it might just be the natural spike and fall of blood sugar levels one entry did mention diabetes. Have you had a blood test recently? Might be worth checking.

Teetime strangely I am sleeping better than before as we have bought single beds.
Jingle yes could be everything slowing down been out shopping and fine now but will feel tired after lunch probably so have to force myself out the chair so Tricia food may play a part.

I feel tired in the mornings. Think it's probably due to everything slowing down during sleep, both physically and mentally. Once I can force myself into a bit of actual movement it usually goes away. Could be a bit of morning depression in there too. Again, moving about helps.

I often feel like that in the morning, takes me ages to get going. Unlike husband who wakes up feeling top o'the world, and he's off.
This morning has been even worse because we had a thunder storm most of the night and our dog actually got into bed next to me and tried to hide. Normally she's not a smelly dog, but must have just eaten a bone she'd dug up.

I know what you mean about waking up tired but I put it down to restless nights due to back pain and having things on my mind. I take my meds in the morning but don't feel able to move until they kick in. Always need forty one winks during the day sometime.

Are you taking beta blockers? I take mine first thing in the morning and feel sleepy again after an hour or two.
