Trigger finger

I too have had trigger finger and had 2 steroid injections which worked for a time. I then had the very easy op and have had no further problems. Don't suffer any more !!

I had an injection for Dupuytrens. It was very painful but it worked and it lasted about 18 months. The consultant told me he was injecting gangrene spores which I found a bit off-putting. It needs doing again but I'm not feeling brave at the moment. Fortunately it's only occasionally painful.

DH has this very badly. He's now had two injections the first lasted 8 weeks and then he had to wait a further 8 weeks for a second. He was in real pain, couldn't drive (too painful to grip steering wheel), couldn't play golf, garden, etc..

I had trigger thumb. The first thing was an injection which helped a bit, but it then proceeded to the point when it locked every time I bent it (very difficult to release a cup or spoon!) At that stage a minor operation took place and it's been great ever since. The surgeon says its arthritis related, but I had no pain then or now, just the awful locking.

I had trigger finger a few years ago, my middle finger used to 'lock' when I clenched my fist and I had to pull it straight with an audible pop! GP referred me to a hand surgeon who gave me a steroid injection which worked for about six weeks. The problem then came back and I had minor surgery on the the tendon with local anaesthetic, it has been fine ever since. In hindsight, I wish I'd gone to the GP earlier!

Is it Dupuytrens? I have this in one hand but, worryingly have a lump under my foot as well and I believe that you can get it in your feet [as if my feet aren't bad enough]. The problem with my hand started when I used a screw driver; a lump appeared on my palm that has never gone away. However it hasn't actually got any worse over the years. My ex had an operation on his hand for it.

My DD suffers from this too, usually at its worst when she first wakes up in the morning. One or two fingers on each hand are curled inwards and locked and she has to force them, painfully, open. She has also had swelling at the base of one finger. The condition seems to be intermittent with her, and at the moment isn't bothering her However, when it was at its worst, a couple of months ago, she saw her GP who has referred her to a rheumatologist. To be fair, she has had other problems with her hands, tingling and deadness, which may or may not be related to trigger finger, and she also suffers pain in one of her knees. Her appointment is next week, so watch this space.

I had that a few years a go ...too much iPad-ing!
I bought a splint on Amazon, wore it mostly at night and after a while it was ok again. I think I also used voltarol gel which helped when it was painful.

I was a nurse, so didn't go near the GP!!!!

I think that's what it is but I've done loads of gardening recently and it now hurts into the palm of my hand and is slightly swollen. Dr Google says to go to the doctor but I wondered if it's like a frozen shoulder and will get better whether I do or don't?

I think I have too. Is that where your finger locks? Usually for me it locks round a mug handle which can be tricky when the coffee is hot! No advice, I'm just living with It. So far it's not causing me too much of a problem.
