Delicate issue!

It is grim - I once had 3 thrombosed piles that had to be knifed and I was beside myself with pain. It is such a sensitive area. I do hope that you find some treatment that helps. Painwise, I used to stand in the shower and spray the head at the relevant area and it did ease the pain. Lots of good luck with this.

Oh Dear regalo I haven't but have nursed quite a few and I feel for you. Can you go back to the GP and ask for something else I don't really understand why your current preparation is giving you a headache. Good Luck and I hope the pain subsides soon.

Regalo You poor thing - that sounds really miserable. I did have this once - caused by a bout of diarrhoea. I got cream from the doctor and it cleared up very quickly. I didn't realise it could give you a headache. Can you not go back to your GP and perhaps he/she can give you something different or suggest some other treatment.

The main side effect of the cream teetime, is headaches....something to do with dilating the blood vessels to allow the fissure to heal. Hmmmm! Trying to avoid doctor as last time I went I had an examination which was agony and made the problem worse.

I haven't suffered from this condition but my sister had one and over the years she developed a chronic condition which resulted in a fistula.

I have 2 internal piles and 1 external. First came about 10 months ago after D&V. I bought anusol cream which helped but this time it didn't so went to GP. She stuck a proctoscope which was so so sore and has taken me nearly 2 weeks to get over! She gave me a steroid type ointment which is helping now and a laxative which was useless so am on the all bran now! I have to get a blood test in case of being anaemic too. I really sympathise x

Not an anaI fissure that sounds dreadfully uncomfortable. I have had painful piles at odd times. They got particularly bad when I was on painkillers for surgery on my shoulder tendons. Suppositories eventually worked along with something like Dulcolax

Someone I know with a fissure eventually - in desperation - went privately and had Botox which seemed to be effective. I once had a thrombosed pile operated on and I have never felt such pain. Having had two babies with no pain relief I was shrieking for any drugs available - it is a very painful area!

I had an anal fissure from when I was a teenager until my mid twenties and it was worse during my period when I had a tendency to be constipated. It went away after GP explained it would heal naturally if I ate a high fibre diet. Sure enough, changing my diet meant I avoided straining when I went to the loo. Eventually the problem went away. This is probably TMI, but I hope it helps.

I've had my piles that long now I've started sending them Christmas Cards!

My SiL had a Pilonidal sinus which became infected and that was extremely painful. He had it operated on with a general anaesthetic and it was being dressed daily for ages. Anything in that area is very painful even simple piles so sympathy to you all.

The ointment Proctosydil (sp) I found to be very relieving for piles. It is anti inflammatory and also slightly numbing. May not just hit the spot on an anal fissure but anything is worth a try.

Yes. And it is awful. I think you could ask your Dr. For a stool softener so that nothing comes through the rectum that is hard in any way. Only then will healing be effective. High roughage diets are good, but people often forget to increase the fluid intake accordingly. You can get suppositories which help the pain too but remember to keep them in the fridge.

"Keep the traffic friendly" was the advice I was given!
