Sorry to hear you have been housebound annsixty I hope this afternoon's outing helps.
I had one afternoon out with book club friends while paw was in hospital and a trip to Birmingham to take DGS to The Red Shoes and they were like a shot in the arm.

Despite being "up" since 7, I am still in my dressing gown, District Nurse arrived at 9 and OT and Physio arrived hot on her heels with a really useful cantilever bedtable for Paw.
Now I really must shower and dress ???

I am currently jousebound and am very low because of it. However a very good friend is coming this afternoon to take me out for an hour and I hope it will charge my batteries for a few days.

Hattie is very calm about Paw being back. I suppose his "smell" was on "his" armchair and apart from occasional curiosity e.g. about why he has not eaten a biscuit, she seems quite contented.
(At least this way she doesn't get left on her own as much. )

We are hoping Paws bladder can be "retrained" but it is reassuring to hear from others who manage the situation successfully.

How is Rory these days Soop? It would be lovely for him just to fall asleep on his cushion or in his cat cave but rarely seems to happen with old dogs. Slipping away peacefully is what most of us would wish for.

First night over, mawb, sounds as if you both coped really well. I'd have no idea what to do . Certainly a learning curve ahead. Hope today is a good one. I'm also wondering about Hattie, is she on guard or avoiding paw?

The night bag in a wpb or plastic bowl works for us. The pouch ( in DH's case a permanent one) empties into the larger night bag and in 7 years or so there have been very few accidents and those only when he forgot to push the plastic bit across to close it. Laminate floors became a must.
At the moment you are having go do this because DH is unwell, and I only do it when ditto. Good luck with it all and I hope Paw gets his strength back bit by bit.

What dies Hattie make of having Paw in the house?

The "leg" bag is detached from his leg overnight and lies beside him (so as not to constrict the leg) and then the night extension tube runs into another bigger bag which is upright on the floor beside the bed. Fortunately he is not the type to toss and turn! My cunning plan was to prop the night bag in a carrier bag in a waste paper bin (empty) with the advantage that I can carry it in the bag when he goes through to the loo.
So far it has worked and one trip to the loo at 2am was not too bad (I can go considerably more often!!)
It is all a very steep learning curve. I wonder what experience other members might have had? Might start a thread (but CBA)

Oh dear, Maw I hope that you manged to get to sleep after your trip to the loo during the night.

The urine bag should not lie on the bed, the urine should be able to flow into it downwards. I am well aware that you will not want safety pins stuck into the bottom sheet but that is really the only way you can attach the bag if a plastic holder has not been supplied. The problem is attaching the holder because Paw is obviously not in a hospital bed. Please ask whoever comes today what can be done about it. The problem is that they will not be trained so may not have a clue.

soop I hope that the little man had a good night's sleep and is enjoying his food.

I was wakened at 6am by Tara- she wanted cuddles and I surfaced an hour later. She has now left the country.

I'm afraid he did charleygirl (-no.2 TMI) but I was able to carry the catheter bag for him like some minion for a potentate!!
It sort of lies on the bed beside him then the "night bag" extension sits in a plastic carrier in a wastepaper bin on the floor by the bed! A bit Heath Robinson, but reasonably effective.
Just back to bed now -sleep beckons zzzzzzzz

Charleygirl, I`m not sure if the other cat is a tom or not, it`s friendly enough towards me, and I`ve never seen it actually attack Mia, but she does seem scared of it, even though it`s very small and skinny.
Anyway, hopefully all Gransnetters will sleep well tonight.

Maw at least you know that Paw will not have to get up to go to the loo during the night so hopefully all three of you will sleep well. I am well aware of one who definitely will!

I would think that you are stressed out but as you said, at least you do not have that ghastly journey to and from the local.

Please make sure you receive all of the care available to Paw. I hope that he was given a blood transfusion before he was discharged.

callgirl| the fact that the other cat is a tom (I think) is enough to frighten Mia. At least she is indoors now even if she is fighting for her (she thinks) rightful position on the stair lift chair. Thankfully Tara has never bothered about it but she does crawl upstairs step by step some evenings when the fancy takes her and I want to go to bed.

Just popping in to mention a twitter person called @catreviewer: this person photographs cats s/he meets in the street and gives them marks out of ten on things like 'general friendliness, good stripes, interesting miaow' etc and often adds 'would pat again'. It's just daftness I know. I was happy to see that it's not just me that enjoys meeting random cats in the street. It's never occurred to me to write a review on them though. Think I might start...

Paw tucked up in bed. Thank you tonight's carer I was dreading fixing the catheter night bag (with my hamfistedness it could have been catastrophic!)
Now I am just SO tired, crashing headache - reaction ?stress??
At least I am not driving back from MKH, not sure I would have been safe.
