On the many recommendations on GN I bought a soup maker. Definitely one of my best buys. Monday morning is often fridge clearing days ,so this morning I have made soup from 2 small potatoes, 1 and a half onions, 1 leek,2 courgettes
4 stems of broccoli and 4 carrots.
Very healthy, very cheap and very filling. It made 5 large portions and I can tell you it tasted far nicer than it sounds.
I feel very virtuous.
I am trying to offset the cost of all the presents I bought for myself for my birthday.
The latest arrived this morning, a lovely pair of Reiker black leather ankle boots.

What make of soup maker was it? It's something I've been meaning to get but am worried that it will end up in the cupboard with the unused spiralizer.

I went for the Salter, I read the reviews on Amazon and several were pretty similar. Salter was cheaper by a couple of pounds so I got that. I use it most weeks as my H likes soup at lunchtime. Once the veg is chopped small it it trouble free and very quick. I use a chicken Stockport (Bisto) for the liquid if I haven't got homemade stock in the freezer. I do that when we have had roast chicken.

I think I must be the only person in the world not to be able to get on with a soup maker, Ann. I have a Cuisinart sitting in the garage that my daughter gave me (her MiL bought it for her and she only used it once and decided she didn't get on with it). I have tried it once and I don't get on with it, but considering all the folks who think they are the bees knees, it must either be the brand, or me! Answers on a postcard......

Thank you for the welcome Soop. I have a Morphy Richards soup maker after recommendations on GN. I love it and use it once or twice every week. Several of my friends have bought one on my advice and all are really pleased.

annsixty The soup sounds tasty. Did you eat it with crusty bread and butter? MacS has a Russell Hobbs bread maker. He says it was money well spent.
As for buying yourself a much needed desired birthday gift...snap! I also like Reiker. I've a boxed pair of gorgeous, crazily coloured shoes, unworn, that I had to have last birthday. Crackers - me!

Tizliz I went into Jail about eight years ago...just to look...as you do. Came away with a gorgeous red jacket that begged to be bought. I still love it.

Those shoes are really something, lovely with a pretty summer dress, but we aren't going to get anymore of those days.
My domesticity knows no bounds, a friend came round with some rhubarb so I have made a crumble.

Did you have a "Get out of Jail free" card Tizliz?

No real news, Paw did know me but his hand/eye coordination is awry and his words still get muddled up.
I helped give him his lunch and also chased up Drs as I saw he had not had all his regular meds " written up" so of course the nurse wasn't dispensing them
He is very poorly.

So sad Maw just keep us up to date as and when you feel up to it.

I also love my soup maker, Morphy Richards, I just throw in what's in the fridge, can never replicate a soop, good job we like a change

Been on grandma duties today, a meal and the sofa are calling me, love it but oh boy, do they have energy. Just realised week after next we've four days of childcare, help! . Take care all.

OMG Soop, I LOVE those shoes! It shows how backward I am, I`d never heard of Reiker shoes until, this afternoon, but those are lovely!
So sorry to hear that Paw is still very poorly, am wishing with all my heart that he will rally.

maw I can sympathise with having to chase up the regular meds , last time OH was admitted the nurse assured us the dispensing Pharmacist was available and just leave the list , aye sure , and pigs flew past the window , I had his try of meds in my bag and gave him the doses he needed till the ( very nice ) pharmacist came to verify she had an up to date list . Glad to hear Paw is conscious , xxxxx
