Soop's kichen for friendly folk and pampered pets

I have been a busy bee today.
I had my regular two weekly meet up and coffee with a fellow GNer which we have been doing for a couple of months now.
We never stop talking and we are more than capable of putting the world to rights if given the chance I can tell you.
Then another friend took me to a garden centre which has a small selection of White Stuff and Sea Salt clothing and an offer of 20% off everything, so I bought myself a very nice WS knitted jacket. Well who could resist an offer like that?

Wobbly I'm so sorry that your surgery could not be carried out. It's a buggeration that you are having to be re-referred. My advice...pack your bags and get away for a wee break. Our pals speak highly of Warners.

Morethan The lady hound will be missing the family. She does look rather lost. She has a sweet expression.

N&G That young lady (she looks a lot like Nana) certainly is pretty and has good taste. Steak! A very wise choice.

Galen You sound upbeat. I guess no nasty moments getting stuck in lifts and such-like. It will be good to have you back. We've missed your merry quips.

ann I wish that us lot could organise a wee party for your next birthday. Naturally we'd all want to attend and guzzle bubbly...after which, we would tidy up and wash the dishes. You would hardly know we'd been having a riotous knees-up genteel soiree.

Posh I used to be partial to a glass of Lambrusco. Delicious with a good strong cheese and crusty bread.

The photos are really good. We have herds of Highland cattle in this area. Also Alpacas. It seems that they wear a permanent superior smile.

MacS have come into the house. Rory too. What have I done? Not a lot...
Last night, a tabby cat came calling. We have seen it before. It is extremely nervous. Looks in good condition. We're wondering is it Bracken's sister. It's difficult to say for certain. If it is one of Rory's daughters, she has been spayed.

I', really going to have to log off. I feel bad about it because I know that I haven't read every message. If I've overlooked something important, please bear with me.

The sun is shining brightly. The weather appears to be improving. I hope so. Mr and Mrs Oldgoat will be in Kintyre on Sunday.

Until tomorrow. (((hugs))) and

Look 'ere, you lovely lot...I'm just getting myself sorted after a stressful morning at my pal's house. Elderly family troubles! I'm so far behind with everything that I should be doing here. Honest to goodness, I cannot believe you've all been so busy.
I see that we've some delightful photos. Also, happen to see that Wobbly is back in the kitchen. That made me smile.

You do understand that I've appointments in Campbeltown first thing tomorrow. Optician. Care home. Weekly shop. It will be early afternoon when I get the chance to catch up.

We shall also need a new kitchen extension before too long.

I shall hastily scan the latest updates. After which, I've stuff to do around the house. Please be patient with me. You know darn well that you matter...

Lovely to see you back Wobbly, you`ve been missed. I`ve always been put off Warners holidays, because the folk in the TV ads always look dead posh, which I can`t even attempt at being!
Greyduster, that calf is adorable, I`ve always liked cows.
Morethan, hopefully things will be looking up very soon. Lovely dog.

Wow wobbly that sounds wonderful!! DD and I have had a weekend in Brighton this year and I'm afraid that's likely to be it, neither of us can afford another one.

Morethan, as this will be our sixth Warners break in 18 months, I guess we would recommend them. But, register your email address with them and you will get some great offers from time to time, 50% off, and you always get 50% if you book whilst you are there.

Good rooms, entertainment, food, and service. They have a variety of venues.

N&G lovely photo of your GD - she looks very poised. We were musing today on our walk through the park how quickly the GCs grow up. When we picked GS up on Tuesday, he said "you have to have a look at my bedroom now it's finished! It's cool!" It is, indeed, very cool, with ultramarine walls and a white frieze and ceiling. Gone is the huge undersea mural with sunken ship, treasure chest, sea creatures and a very jolly whale spouting at the top. "Are you hanging your aeroplane models up again?" I asked. "No", he said. "They won't look right in here now." He's ten. Big sigh. I was talking to my step grandson at the weekend and he was waxing whistful about graduating from uni this summer and how quickly his school and university days have passed. He sounded quite sad.
morethan what you are going through breaks my heart and I find I have no words, but I am thinking about you.
Some photos from our walk. The little calf with his mum could not have been more than a day or so old. He was still very unsteady on his feet, but was obviously enjoying his new surroundings.

ann Ive just read your earlier note and glad you had a nice afternoon out. Any plans for your own Big Birthday soon?

Good morning all !

Its bright day here which is nice as by yesterday evening we were thinking of building an ark !!

You're welcome Posh , its a win/win because its her gift but she takes me . Was it a man doing the looking ? Because if its not moving they wont see it... there's a whole theory about hunter gathers behind it at least that's what Grampy says !!

Glad you're enjoying the cruise Galen

Hope the cough is a little better Corner I know how irritating it can be.

Glad the funeral passed without event Ann. I think my family sound a bit like your neighbour- we're not given to sharing things like sorrow and at some of our funerals you would have thought we were just there for the party. Maybe your neighbours are like that and grieve in private?

Hope the prodding was less painful than you expect soop !!

Sending you a hug Morethan , hope things are better than you expect .

Sorry to hear of the delays Wobbly !

I'd love to join you Galen but as I have a scooter ( not as compact as your luggie) we would be jostling for position at the doors !! D hope you find someone though - it would be nice to go with a verteren cruiser !

Grampy is off at youngest DD building a wendy house today and swimming with the boys this afternoon.

Took our granddaughter shopping last night for some holiday clothes as we are away with them in 2 weeks. She is growing up so fast. We asked her what she would like for dinner an she promptly replied STEAK please !!

So we spent a lovely evening with her getting all her news and then a fashion show of the things we bought. Lovely .

Had a good time. Home tomorrow.
Anne has decided not to come with me in September as she doesn't like more than 7 days cruising. She's too worried about getting used to the luxury?
So I'll be on my own
Unless?
It's a Queens grill suite. All paid for. The other person does have to have the couch which converts to a large single bed.
It's Southampton to Southampton going round the Med
It's 17 days.
If anyone is interested please pm me!
I don't need a lot of help, mainly just holding the door open while I get through on my scooter. The doors all have spring closing!
I've until the end of May to tell Cunard

Sorry dog, for him and he, read her and * she* throughout.

Just a thought morethan the bloody poor dog may be feeling insecure and disorientated because "mum" is not there, they can be easily discombobulated, bless them. He may also be picking up on your own very understandable stress, my dogs have regularly picked up on my moods in the past.
So give him another Curley wurley and forgive him ?

Sending many positive vibes and virtual {{hugs} to morethan and anno. You feel so helpless, but just being is a support in itself, whether actually there or perforce on the other side of the world, your support is making a difference.
On a more cheerful note, morethan I think THAT dog is wonderful! I have always loved them for their "Joli laid" faces , not conventionally sweet, but so full of character. Yes, I can believe stubborn too. More curly-wurlies clearly needed for bribery dog training! Good luck -in every way

Horrible isn't it. annodomini to feel so useless in the face of somthing so terrible. I feel sick with anxiety. I'm not ready for another onslaught and I feel guilty for feeling that. When I know it's worse for her and her immediate family. On a lighter note I bought myself a curly worley and the bloody dog ate it. Then it ripped up a blanket all over the garden. Looking after the boys is no problem but this dog...honestly. She follows me round all day with her nose attached to my backside. If I turn my back for a second she's up to somthing. The whole house smells of damp dog after yesterday's downpour, if she decides not to move then come hell or high water nothing will move her and now she piddled on her bedding. Hope everyone of you are well. I'm going to take her on a walk along a long beach. Hope the rain keeps off

morethan2, so sorry to hear the news about your DiL. Your DS must be very anxious. A similar situation seems to be developing concerning my BiL who had an op for prostate cancer a couple of months ago and it seems that some cells have escaped and he may need radiotherapy. My poor sister is beside herself as her best friend also has cancer requiring chemo. I feel inadequate to do anything to help her as I live at some distance and our other sister is on the other side of the globe.

My best creation was a panda cake for one DS's birthday but I think it was all downhill after that.

Good luck!

My cake creation will be for the weekend, jalima and I will probably start on Friday so there is time to dash to M&S for a Caterpillar cake when it all goes tits up to give me time to decorate it on Saturday!
Today I went to the Hockney exhibition st Tate Britain. Lovely, but I am knackered!!

N&G the hair straightening sounds intriguing - one side of mine has a gentle wave, the other an unruly mess which frizzes in the damp
Galen I do hope you are managing to enjoy yourself

soop hope you have your feet up, here is a refreshing. I wondered where our woodpecker had gone - that's quite a journey she made!

Hello Wobbly, sorry to hear about your postponed operation and other problems and I hope your operation won't be delayed too long. It does take time to get over a fall, too, it can make you lose confidence and requires extra concentration. I hope you enjoy Herefordshire.

I hope the cake was good Maw, I'm sure it will be delicious.

mcem I do hope this treatment does the trick this time, you must all be very worried

but teeth are a curse all one's life aren't they- coming, hurting, going but they can be a source of great excitement too - especially when you're expecting the very first visit from the Tooth Fairy, as one very happy little DGD told me this evening

Good to hear from you wb. Life's a right pain sometimes dont you think? Hope the various tribulations sort themselves soon

You did rest I hope soop. These delvings take it out of us. Definitely calls for raised feet.

That sounds so hard morethan, I was told recently that Mums are only as happy as their unhappiest child. There's a lot of truth in that I think.

Taking my germs off to bed as soon as I am relieved from child corralling detail. Take care everyone.

Greetings all.
It has plashed all day here, to the extent that builders working on installing car park drainage at village hall this afternoon had to give up 'coz the car park was too flooded for the "crush" lorry to get in. But at least now the puddles are all beautifully joined up & very straight (& 6" deep).
Galen - how are the pearls surviving the cruise?
kitty - we think by now our library regulars are either used to the noise or don't come in on Tue a.m. Any "irregulars" giving me "the look" get waved at & beckoned to come & join in
soop - for 15 years I lived in a Victorian, long, curved terrace which faced a river. It was lined with stately lime trees - lovely!
morethan - what a worry, so sorry for you.
ann - good to know that, overall, the funeral went better than you feared it might. Being prepared for the worst & hoping for the better is a sound outlook in a lot of situations. Also nice that you have been able to be with friendly folk today.
Need to get a drink...water this time, we had a glass of syrupy Lambrusco (not our usual tipple) with dinner & my teeth itch!
Also .....I have happy face - 2 weeks Autumn Yorkshire holiday provisionally booked. (One is very pleased!!)

Nice to see you in the kitchen again wobbly. Sorry things are not too great for you at the moment. Please pop in from time to time to let us know how you are getting on.

morethan . Always more difficult to cope with a problem when you're not close at hand. Good job for your son he has you to talk to.

Rory keep safely in the kitchen for a while and stay away from the gardening thread about ?. Stay here where you are at home.

Lovely to hear from you pompa. Please pop in now and again. Sorry to hear about trials and tribulations. Are you still playing your ukelele? Sorry about your medical problems and hope the hip op isn't postponed for too long. Please post again - you have been missed !

Have a good time Wobbly I've always fancied a warners holiday. Would you recommend it

Well so nice to catch up WB so sorry things have not been going well.
Hope Linda picks up and you get your various tests and ops done soon.
I have been out to a neighbours this afternoon with another neighbour. We spent the first 45minutes discussing our ailments and medication.
I am the oldest at 79 and 10 months, one will be 80 in October and the baby will be 79 in September.

We decided we all needed " putting down"

On the positive side we all lead busy and fulfilling lives and take a very active interest in our GC and in life in general and we all have needy H's who need a lot of coping with. We all also have a sense of humour, so necessary in later life.

The "baby" has 4 GGC and a fifth expected and she is prepared to do one day a week minding as she still does for one.
