Sympathies to soop. I have had a couple of days off line because I forgot hadn't bothered to install my new Virgin hub and eventually the old modem was cut off! So this morning I installed the thing with assistance from helpline on which I was greatly relieved to be greeted by a friendly Scottish accent.As you can see, I am now back on line. This afternoon I joined fellow members of NWR to go round Bramall Hall which recently got money from the Rotary Heritage Fund for restoration. It looks great and they have opened up more rooms than previously. a magnificent old building to have on our doorstep, with a nice park as well. Do take a look at the link.

I have had a pretty grotty day and one day I will post about it but your collective woes have restored my spirits, sorry everyone.
The redeeming factor was a bottle of surprisingly good wine from Aldi, a Sicilian white whose variety escapes me at the moment, but for roughly a fiver was very enjoyable.
Simple pleasures.

I was going to risk parking and not paying the charge today - just needed five minutes to pop into a shop opposite the car park. The £1 could have gone into the house fund.
However, the parking attendant was hovering by my car so I was forced into buying a ticket.

Golly, it sounds as if the collective purchase of this bungalow is becoming a distant prospect. I would offer to raid GS's piggy banks but he would never speak to me again! Perhaps we should try the Halifax. If Top Cat and the Flintstones can get a mortgage I'm sure us GNs could. After all, we're a bunch of characters aren't we?
Well, due to one thing and another, the fishing was a disaster. First there were the people who insisted one standing on the bank behind me having a long conversation while I was waiting to cast and not embed a large hook somewhere in their person. Then there was the man who stood three feet away from me skimming stones across where my line was lying. When I pointed out to him that this was not an entirely polite thing to do to someone who had paid for the right to fish there, his reply was unprintable. And he was bigger than me! Then there were the wild swimmers (something new) and the rib boat that was life guarding the wild swimmers and creating a bow wave large enough to sink Galen's cruise liner and scattering every fish to infinity. And the ducks, and the geese and the swans, and the grebes..... There was only one other angler there today. He was pretty p****d off too! I am now exhausted (you can't fly fish sitting down!) and I might as well have donated the money on the bungalow fund - it would have been better spent. Perhaps I should consider finding a hobby better suited to my age and delicate constitution.

Evening all.
Do we all remember putting coins in dimple whisky bottles? Haven't got one of those... my spare coins go in a small plastic bottle that used to contain "bubbles"; will the contents help for the collective fund?

My OH has for years said that we ought to have plastic grass of one sort or another on our 2 small lawn/meadow/moss green patches. (I don't know why he's so keen, I'm the one who cuts it!!) I suppose if we did I could get rid of the hover mower & strimmer, & have a "sucky-thing" for leaves. Oh goody - another vacuum cleaner!

Added to my feeling of being Billy no mates, our immediate neighbours are moving out and letting the house to a trusted friend who is a rugby player - isn't that a contradiction in terms? And the house next door to them was sold even before it went on the market! I don't think it's me!

Forgot to say, Tesco delivered this morning, and because someone else`s milk had dripped onto some of my shopping, the man knocked the offending items off my list, but because they weren`t harmed, he told me to keep them, said he`d only have to bin them if he took them back. So, a bit of a saving this week, around a fiver!

I`ve been sorting a load of junk in what should be the back bedroom, and have found a bank book from the late 70s with £1.50 in it. Trouble is, that bank is no more, but I will happily contribute it to the house buying fund if it`ll help.

All the rubbish and junk has reappeared at the front of the building and one of the cars has not been seen!

There was a ben end where the cattle slept, and provided warmth, now it only a cats purr.

The ben end was where jollity and uisguigebeagh was sipped in vast quantities.

Perhaps if we all chip in we can share it between us and take turns spending the night there. Galen could have us round for dinner and afterwards we could spend time trying on some of her pearls . Has there been a joke today Galen ? Can't remember will have to go back and look.

You could keep them for a year kittylester - if they win a prize within a year then they will pay out the prize I think (best check in case they have changed the rules); we only realised that Mum had some when a prize arrived - however we could not claim it as it was 13 months after she had died.
