Run the Fairey Swordsman on the village pond today. Very pleased with scale like performance. As fast as I would want it to be, OK on calm day, possibly a bit quick on rough water, This is exactly as the original performed, frightening on rough water.

Lovely! Whilst house-hunting in Pembrokeshire we looked round a bungalow very similar to that - even the flagstones on the patio were painted pink.

We have a 'pink palace' in our village too pompa (not quite the same pink as yours). It is a converted chapel and has been on Escape to the Country. They didn't buy it and it is currently rented out.

Harrigran lovely photo. Every child's dream I would think. When in Wales one year on holiday there was a wonderful event at a model railway club. All sorts of steam engines and enthusiasts from all over the country.

Must praise EBay. I use Ebay very often, used it over 300 times since I started.
Never had a problem that was not sorted quickly by the seller concerned without getting Ebay involved.
Until now !. Ordered a DVD which turned out to be not payable in the UK, contacted seller, no response. EBay offered to open a "Case" which they did, within 2 working days they had investigated and found in my favour and refunded the total cost back to my Paypal account, no need to return item.
Really can't ask for better, EBay has to be the safest place to shop on line.
For my hobby, I often purchase directly from China or HK, no problem whatsoever, slightly longer delivery, but that is to be expected.

I agree, they are wonderful. I am now up to over 700 purchases made over the past ten years. EBay has changed quite a bit over that time, and seems to come down heavily on the side of the purchasers. I am wary of being a seller, I can see that things do go wrong very easily - postal delays, lost post, picky customers etc., but as a buyer you may not always get what you want, but at least you will get a refund. Also even though some sellers state that the buyer must pay the postage in the event of a refund, that is not the case. DBH is heavily into model railways and he also buys many materials from China, he has found the whole process to be faster and less painful than with many normal retail purchases from the UK.

Having had dreadful experiences with M&S, I agree with him!

What will fall apart next ?
Starting to feel my age, hip replaced, knee replaced, bald, depressed, forgetful, a few things I won't discuss, start of cataracts and now hearing aids

Just went along to Drs for a hearing test (Mrs P complaining that I don't here her) came out with 2 hearing aids fitted, now everything sounds too loud, especially high pitched sounds. But I did listen to some of my favourite classical music and half the orchestra returned.

I had a terrible shock yesterday, always thought I was very fit and quite nimble for my age. My shoe lace came undone whilst walking round B&Q, I found a nice little ledge to put my foot up, so that I could bend down to reach my shoelace. Couldn't get my foot up, and don't think I could have bent down to do it up - decided to find a chair. I was really quite put out about that though.

As I said in my last post, everything seems to be falling apart, my depression has come upon me. I suddenly feel very useless and there seems little point to life, just too many problems to cope with. Good to have know you all, but it is time to move on, I am just too negative.

Be good, and if you can't be good, don't get caught.

There are few enough men contributing regularly to GN without you dropping out, pompa. Driving through the Braxteds a week ago we saw a sign to Tiptree and DW said "Isn't that where Pompa lives?" Jam, ginger conserve and Pompa: that's what that part of Essex is all about, and GN would miss all three of them, especially the last.

Oh, pompa, we need you here and I think you probably need us too. It's here you can unload on us, instead of on Mrs P. Come on, pompa, we're your friends!

Can you tell us about any of the problems that are getting you down pompa? Would it help to pm someone? Between us we will have encountered most things so are happy to listen if it would help. As Grumppa says, there are too few men on here without you leaving us.

Oh dear Pompa I'm so sorry that you're depressed right now. I can't imagine there is anyone on Gransnet who might find you too negative, but very many who would be happy to metaphorically 'hold your hand' through the darkness.

Oh dear! Pompa we just cannot have that at all, please come back to us. Let us help if we can, come on write it all down so that we can share. Please do not desert us when Spring is here and the daffodils are blooming just for you.

Thanks for the supportive comments etc. Starting to come back to normality now (well as normal as I ever am).

Better weather has enabled me to get a lot done in the garden and I feel that I have achieved my personal targets. We have offered to open our garden up for the local U3A group in June, not well planned, as we are on holiday the two weeks before. Lots of stuff to be done to make the garden presentable. Lawn has been re-seeded, beds still need clearing, summer house and garage needs painting. Need to plan some bedding that will be flowering mid June.

We have also had some problems relating to our daughters relationship, it hasn't been solved, they have agreed to try to resolve the situation, so we shall see, but at least DD seems much happier that she did a few weeks ago. Also had man flu, thanks to DW.
