Mine have been very good this year. It is correct to snip off the tendrils to get more flowers. Always take off spent flowers before they make seeds, in fact picking the flowers regularly encourages flowering.
Sweet peas are hungry plants, I put home made compost and well rotted manure in the soil before planting. Through the growing season I give them a high potash feed such as tomato food.
Don't let out little feathered friends dry out.
