Anyone got a bird of paradise plant

We grew strelitzia from seed that we brought back from Tenerife and they grew into huge healthy leafy plants that got bigger and bigger each year. After 15 years, with not one flower ever appearing, we gave them away to a local nursery. They never flowered for him either. I think you have to have perfect natural growing conditions for them to succeed.

I always stop to admire them in Spain when I’m over! They are just so flamboyant and gorgeous aren’t they?

They are a tropical plant, would be ok in hot weather, but need protection of a greenhouse or conservatory in the winter.
