Just a quickie

Have just noticed another two cast off “jackets”of dragonflies around my pond and apparently if you have a few dragonflies around it indicates good water quality. I am so pleased about that because I do not have a pump or anything in my pond it is purely a wildlife pond so I’m happy about that…. I’ll let the plants get on with their jobs of clarifying and oxygenating the water..

Yes that’s it. I expect the second one is now a damsel fly. Beautiful aren’t they? I can’t remember seeing so many, possibly a result of climate change.

Yes Damsel fly, the Larvae are quite something. They climb out of the water onto nearby leaves. They’re quite large, brown and not at all attractive. The Damsel fly emerges from the back.
We had several during last summers hot weather.

They look stunning when the sun shines on them, iridescent.

I agree a Damsel fly

It looks like a damsel fly to me. Similar to dragon flies.
