I think bright pink scented roses with your blue door would be lovely!
For the spiller I would use variegated ivy, which will last for years. For the centre of planters I often use the little bright green conifers or fuschias, then fill with something temporary to change with the seasons, underplanted with bulbs. Temporary plants could be cyclamen, pansies or primulas for winter and spring, followed by pelargoniums, petunias or busy lizzies, all in shades of pink and lilac/purple to go with the roses.
