No Wwmark2 it's not a climber. When it was at it's best in my MIL garden (which btw, it already was old and she inherited it from the previous owner) it grew very bushy and tall. But not a climber.
The leaves are a very handsome shiny green as they mature.
I'm thinking of trying to grow a cutting of it, but to be honest it doesn't have that many shoots coming off.
I'm not quite at the intensive care stage with it, but one wrong move and I feel it will give up the ghost. 
Wwavemark2 … you little gem!! You may have found it. I've looked it up on David Austin's site, and apart from not mentioning the bronze new growth, it sounds very likely this is it.
It especially mentions it's weak growth (needs nurturing) which I have found to be true.
Almost as if it misses my MIL's delicate touch, because it was vigorous under her care.
I think I will buy one, if it is the same, and the original dies I'll have a replacement.
It wont have the same memories attached to it though.
I am ridiculously excited now

Still have some bearded Iris. If they like where they are they really give a good show. Californian poppies have come on and like similar conditions, so are a good companion plant I think.

Hanging baskets went up a few days ago. Just as well I couldn't cope with the watering! Now the drip system can do it

I did order plug plants in white from T&M but although I've been waiting since the beginning of March they haven't arrived. Bit cross actually as I've sent emails with no replies!!
