Gardeners a lovely group of people

Hi Jeanie, my name is Sheila, I live in Lancashire, between Morecambe & Lancaster. Lost my hubby 20th December 2011 & it's the garden that as kept me sane for the past few months. I am not able to do as much as I would like, having had 2 knee replacements & not too steady on my pins I get vertigo when I bend over sometimes too, a right old crock . I hope you find lots of things that interest you on here, people are very helpful if you have a question

Hi Sheila, I'm sorry to hear your husband passed away but glad you have an interest in gardening which keeps you going.
I have always thought gardening is a wonderful way of getting rid of stress. We just need the dry weather to get out there.
I got out into the garden on Monday and what a great sunny day.

When my marriage broke up ten years ago it was gardening that kept me sane. I'd never really been interested in the garden; far too busy running teenage kids around etc so it was a whole new world to discover. Even reading the names of the plants and working out which plant needed to go where was consoling. I suppose as well there's the nurturing side of it and the constant rebirth and awareness that life goes on and there is still beauty to be found. I can't walk the way that I used to but find that a day pottering about in the garden makes me feel good. Trips to local garden centres are always a joy as well. If only it would stop raining, though .

Never looked at the gardening thread before as, although I do our garden, I haven't a clue what I'm doing. I just weed, hack away and hope for the best. Seems to work for me!

Jeannie you may find that some are nasty on other threads, if it bothers you I suggest you keep away from religion and politics!

I'm glad you are happy so far, there are lots of really nice people on here as long as you keep away from the controversial ones.

yeah i agree.. It is really wonderful to interact with them..They will always talk about greenery and flowers etc..It feels so lovely
