No, I would hate that. Don't like drawing attention to myself at all.

If you could be another person just for a day, who would it be?

Sagittarius , I don’t know what traits I’m supposed to have, but like my son in law who is the same sign, I am impatient to get things done, always early and don’t suffer fools gladly.

What are you ?

Im a Leo which makes me a "look at me" kind of person, supposedly a good leader. Nowadays I prefer to keep myself to myself and let others take the lead.

Do you dislike estate agents?

I hate the creatures - I am dealing with one myself now and find her patronising and unprofessional. My nephew had a real go at her for the way she spoke to me.

I don't dislike estate agents per se as I'm sure they're all different and I've met a few solicitors who are downright unpleasant. The last EA I dealt with was perfectly reasonable. I've moved house six times so I'm obviously a glutton for punishment.

Have you ever encountered the 'buyer from hell'? I have.

Not the buyer from hell in a nasty way, but certainly naive buyers, who offered me £20 pw if I would sell my house to them. They assured me they had good jobs and could push it to £25 pw if that would help.

Any buyers from hell stories out there?

Nothing different, I am always careful but you have to enjoy life, it’s too short.

What is you favourite tipple ?
I like a nice red wine.

A nice red wine in the cooler weather, a gin & tonic on a warm sunny day.

Do you like flavoured gins & vodkas or prefer the traditional ones. Bombay Sapphire is my favourite but I occasionally like a rhubarb gin.

Humbugs or jelly babies

Did you ever visit an old fashioned chemist where they had those huge glass containers with coloured water in them and wooden cabinets with lots of drawers?

We had a local one like that when I was a kid.

Yes, we had a chemist like that in our village.

Did you have a sweet shop that had large jars full of coloured sugar?

Oh yes. Barley sugar twists, sherbet lemons, coconut mushrooms. Bliss.

Favourite sweet when a child?

Coconut mushrooms or liquorice torpedoes

Favourite chocolate bar from childhood, I liked the Fry’s Five Centres bar with the different coloured creams in it.

Rainbow drops-I could make 2oz last for days. If I buy them now they last a very short time. Like a Mars Bar cut in slices to make it last.

Did you ever push a neighbours’ baby out in the pram for a walk when you were quite young?

Yes quite often, me & my friend used to take a couple of neighbours babies a walk to the local shop or around the block. Never had any problems, we were only young, still at primary school. We also babysat at quite a young age too.

Did you used to get sent to the corner shop with a shopping list & the money in a little purse at a young age. I used to go with my little sister, we just used to hand the list over to the shopkeeper. We would carry a handle each back up the road if the bag was heavy.

Sister and I went to the corner shop for Grandma each Saturday morning to get a few bits and bobs.

Did you ever go to the cinema on Saturdays for the special children's selection of films - Laurel and Hardy. The Three Stooges, Tarzan, etc?

Yes, I remember the Saturday morning cinema. Four sweets for a penny before going in and children running round and round.

What do you think of today’s wedding dresses?

Not a lot! Most of them are far too over the top and glitzy with huge skirts and splits up one side. They make the bride look like something out of a drag show.

Do you think far too much is now spent on weddings what with hens going on expensive trips abroad, lavish venues in the middle of no-where and all the expense that goes with it?

Several of my friends have pleaded a previous engagement or made some other excuse rather than go because they just couldnt justify the expense of hotels, travel, childcare, new outfits, gifts etc.

Yes I do. We once went on a short cruise, spoilt by a big group of hen party women dressed as sailors. The mother of the bride included She looked ridiculous. They were loud, drunk and very unladylike like most times we saw them and it must have cost them a fortune.

Have you enjoyed the Jubilee celebrations ?

I haven’t seen anything apart from quite a bit of trooping the colour.
I’m finding it all extremely sad. Like we are saying goodbye to the Queen.
It’s marking the end of era.
I think that the country will be thrown into a mass existential crisis when she dies.
I might watch last night’s concert on catch up. You never know

I've positively loved everything about the jubilee celebrations so far. It's absolutely brilliant.

If someone gives you something that is definitely awful, would you tell them? A neighbour gave me a pot of home made jam which was not set, the fruit was not cooked and it was just a runny failure. I had to throw it away. Would you tell them?

Not in a million years. I was brought up to say thank you for any gift even if it was pretty damn obvious it wasn't right.

Do you like marmalade?

Love it. Lime and grapefruit also. But not too sweet and definitely with peel

Just watching the Pageant. Have you ever been on a carnival float.?

Yes but only as a small child. I used to be in a school which put on a pageant every year. We paraded all around the district in floats. One year I was in the maypole dance.

Would you want to see the monarchy end with the queen?

when I think of something like "President Boris" I would wish for it to continue but in a very much cut down version like they have in the Netherlands.
