We do eat meat and DH likes the occasional steak, but mostly chicken or fish.

Do you have lots of jewellery, of just some favourite pieces?. I only wear silver and I have a much loved bracelet I wear a lot

I have loads. Seriously, masses of the stuff.
I’m a devil for jewellery.

A while ago I was being morbid and worrying how DH could cope without me if he had to.
I asked him
‘What would you do if I was really ill; like, in hospital?’

And he replied, deadpan,
‘I’d sell your jewellery’


What is your favourite piece of jewellery.
My current favourite is my beetle necklace

When my second grandchild was born - almost a year ago - I had both their names engraved on silver small silver hoops which I wear on a silver chain around my neck. I have never taken it off since! So this is my favourite piece of jewellery

Do you wear your wedding ring all the time? I don't wear my original wedding ring because it is too wide - that was the fashion in 1970 - but I do wear it's replacement all the time.

No, it’s too small now (my husband died in 2016) but I wear my engagement ring.

Do you consider yourself good at caring for someone sick at home?

FC , I love that pendant. How unusual and it looks like it’s 24carat. Did you buy on holiday ? I too have a few good pieces but nothing as unusual as yours

It’s a lot smaller than it appears in the photo; the beetle is only about 1.5 - 2cm long.
I think its 18 carat plated, with little gems on it which you can’t really see in the picture either.
It’s from a company called P D Paola (they are online)
They have some gorgeous things.

Do you consider yourself good at caring for someone sick at home?

Yes I do. My son always remembers that when he was unwell as a child he would be on the sofa with his duvet over him and drinking Lucozade. Whatever food he fancied being made for him by me and watching tv. He's in his 30's now and not adverse to having the same treatment if he's a bit under the weather.......and I'm not adverse to turning back the clock for him.

What do you resort to when you are under the weather?

Sleep and Chicken noodle soup.

Well another wet, windy day here. What do you do when you have to stay indoors.?

Im indoors most of the time due to limited mobility. I run a business.

Do you take a phone into the bedroom with you?

I very rarely do and only callers on my VIP list can get through when Im sleeping. As a mobility impaired non driver there is little I can do about other people's "emergencies".

Tidy a cupboard. or two. Sort something out for charity shops. Write emails to friends.
Watch Netflix after 2pm. ( Self-imposed rule, no tv before 2pm.)

I can see 6 daffodils just outside this window. And there are lots in the back garden. And the camellias are lovely.

Ah. Crossed. Sorry.

Yes, I have a house phone extension by my bed. And I keep my mobile phone on all night. But I turn off the Wi-Fi.

Spring flowers are usually late blooming here but I can see them pushing through the soil now.

Do you have good neighbours?

Yes. I never knew how good till Covid, but they’ve always been friendly.

Is there a phobia you wish you didn’t have? I’d like to walk across a glass bridge, but heights ??

I used to have a very severe flying phobia but am over it now.
I have a hospital phobia inherited from my mother, but not as bad as hers.

What do you use to take make up off/clean your face at night?

I don't wear much make-up, just eye stuff usually, so I use water and a flannel.

Do you like second hand bookshops?

Yes! There is one in Whitby that I always went to when I was there.
I do miss Whitby ?

I have to stop myself from buying books in general. I already have far too many.

That said, I’ve recently bought two lovely second hand books from Amazon - Post Card Dogs, and Post Card Cats.
I’m going to frame my favourites.

What pictures etc do you have on your walls; on display etc?

I find it ridiculously hard to buy decent framed pictures now.
You are expected to buy your own prints and then get them framed yourself

Most of our stuff is original Welsh art we have bought through Collector Plan. Though we have a few by a very special artist we knew long ago We have a superb man down the road, an ex artist, who frames our prints.

What is your favourite city in the UK and why?

York. I love the minster and the cobbled streets and Betty's. I like all the walled cities.

What is your treatment for a cold? I have a nasty one today.

AGA I would definitely have said York too.

Are their certain art periods you love? I like art nouveau and the pre Raphaelites, always have.

The impressionists, full of light.

Do you sleep well at night?

Not really……even with a sleeping tablet ? I wish I could get a straight undisturbed, at least 5 hours, but it’s 2 to 3 hours, turn over, another 2 hours and so on. I’ve learned to accept it now.

Had a missed call from friends, who presumably want to visit this evening. I haven’t returned the call, simply because I’m not feeling too good and don’t fancy visitors. What would you do in my position ? (Bear in mind, they live 150 miles away and are possibly visiting their daughter, who lives about 45mins from me )

I would ring them and tell them you are not well and will be having a very early night. Just in case they ring when they are at their daughter's and put you on the spot by saying they will come over.

Well something goes ‘To whit’ in the night, but it never gets a’To whoo ‘back !
