Erica and Ernest. They could have been a great comedy duo, but they were born too early.

What is the best thing (object) that you have made or are most proud of?

I made a hand sewn, double patchwork quilt some years ago. I made most of it during the long year when my mother was dying of cancer. I would sit and sew when I sat with her.

Pencil drawings I did of my children.

Did you have a happy childhood?

No, far from it.

What was your first pet?

My first pet was a tortoise called Speedy! We also had a dog called Spot but he belonged to my dad.

What can you remember about your first day at school?

Nursery school - I climbed over the hedge and ran after my mum with Miss Carroll close behind. Mum lifted me into her arms. I was coaxed to go back by the promise of a pillow on my canvas bed ( for after lunch nap).
Feeling quite tearful writing this remembering mum.

What's the best bargain you have got in a charity shop,

200 year old Wedgwood dishes for 30p each.

Do you prefer antique or modern furniture?

I got a royal Copenhagen crystal candle holder with the sticker still on it for $4(about 2 pounds) My daughter had been to Copenhagen and she said they cost heaps and she was very impressed!

What are the worst weeds that you detest in your garden? Hands down oxalis here!

Yes so long as the bedroom is cool.

Not my cup of tea having done 2 to please FIL .

Have you ever been in a glider ? I have and loved it , including loop the loop! (More my thing than steam trains)

No, I've never been in a glider but I've seen people on the telly who flew from one coast to another (Northern England) and it looked fascinating.

Which year do you think was the best for music?

The mid-70s I think.
Being completely subjective, I believe that the 70s were the best decade as it had so many different genres, aswell as still riding on the 60s wave.
There was glam rock; disco; prog rock; reggae; punk; the lot
It was very vibrant and eclectic.
My own personal heyday was a decade later!

Same question, best time for music?

Soft spot for the 60s as in my teens, but every era throws up some classic pop songs for me.

Apples-Braeburn or Granny Smiths. None with ‘delicious’ in the name.

How many things on your mantel?

Sadly we haven’t got a mantel piece. But at the moment I have an art nouveau pewter vase of roses and a large Jo Malone candle on top of the log burner.

Do you like candles and what is your favourite?

5 - 2 are candles in glass jars, 2 are ornaments, 1 is fragrance diffuser sticks in a glass bottle.
