Is there anything outrageous (which would embarrass your family) you’d like to do?

I don't think I'd want to do anything embarrassing - surely I'd be embarrassed too, not just my family?

Yes, but can’t remember the outcome.
I think I’m a combination of extrovert and introvert.

Do you think you would make a good farmer’s wife?

In my head I can be good at anything. In reality my answer to your question would be a definite no I would not make a good farmers wife (nor would I want to be).

When did you last laugh so much your sides/stomach ached or you simply couldn’t stop, for ages?

Er? I really can't remember laughing that much. However, every day I have a bit of a chuckle - even if it's at the tv. Mr R and I are watching a few episodes of "Friends" every evening and that is a very funny show. (No, don't bother to come on and post that you can't stand the programme - ^we love it^)

What is the funniest tv programme you have ever watched?

Fawlty Towers used to make me fall about with laughter.
Then Only Fools and Horses. These days it's Mrs. Brown.

Do you have a really sad film which you love? Mine is Death in Venice.

My favourite sad film at the moment is’Sylvia’ about Sylvia Plath.

Do you think a lot about the past?

Yes I think way too much about the past and when faced with many a fork in the road, what it would have been like if I made the other choice.

I also think way too much about the stories my parents told me of their life and of their parents lives and I wish I’d listened more.

Do you have a phobia?

I’m claustrophobic

I'm not very keen on water. I don't mean bath or shower water as in those situations I'm in charge but the thought of swimming in a pool, river or the sea is unpleasant for me. Also the torture of being 'waterboarded' is more frightening to me than rats or spiders.

Do you excel at card games?

Excel-not if you mean bridge, though I’m an expert at Stop the Bus and Chase the Ace. I’m quite good at knock-out whist, rummy and gin rummy and mediocre at Euchre.

Have you ever played games with dominoes apart from straightforward dominoes?

No only played straight dominoes and not for many years.

If you could go back to one moment or incident in your life and change the past what would it be?

Age 10 I was bullied by a head teacher into admitting something I didnt done because she believed another kid over me. The incident led to a mini breakdown and I failed the 11 plus. I would like to go back in time, call her a bully, and threaten her with informing the school governors (which is what a parent would do now).

I had a similar experience at school.
I was convinced that a girl I knew was being abused by her father. We were both 13 at the time. She lived alone with the father.
I told my concerns to my form teacher, who literally laughed it off.
Four years later the girl gassed herself in her father’s car.
If the teacher had done something, she may well still be alive.
I still have dreams about the girl, and I hate that woman to this day.

If I gave you £500 to spend on yourself, what would you buy?

She had no friends, she was a real loner. She was absolutely brilliant at art - the only person better than me in our year (much better).
She also came out as a lesbian to a ‘mean girl’ (massive mistake) who blabbed to everyone, and she was mercilessly bullied.
It’s such a sad story, and the school did bugger all.

If I had £500 to spend on myself I might actually consider getting a good haircut. I dislike hairdressers so I've been cutting it myself for years. And now it's getting weird!
If there was any change I would buy a winter skirt and nice boots as I get fed up with trousers all the time.

Do you still water some outdoor plants even when there is rain?

No I never water outdoor plants if there is rain. It's one less thing to have to do. (Do you?)

Do you have to do a few chores indoors before you allow yourself to relax, read a book, watch tv or go on Gransnet?

Yes, empty the dishwasher, get stuff sorted for dinner and lunch. Wipe round bathrooms. Then plug in hoover and read .

Which is your favourite website, other than Gransnet ofcourse?

Other than GN I look at Mumsnet but am sometimes dismayed at the attitudes displayed, often downright rude and sarcastic. I rarely post on it (different name) and I do sympathise with young people's problems which seem so much worse than those which concerned our generation.

Slightly related to the above answer are you glad you're not young anymore? I certainly am. Apologies for not being very light-hearted.

With the dampening down of my hormones (medication after cancer) I’m enjoying the calm, stable person I am now, but I rather miss that wild girl, she was a holy terror! Not keen on my aches and pains…

Does a strong regional accent put you off some people?

No because I used to have a strong Liverpool accent until I began to move among professional people and felt it to my advantage to "lose" it. I can still drop back into broad Liverpudlian when it suits me. However some regional accents are less attractive than others!

Have you ever had a home visit from a doctor or nurse since you became an adult?

Both my jabs were done by home visit due to mobility issues,

Wet wipes

Tinted moisturiser (light foundation) and lipstick for when I take my mask off.

Oh yes, several times - sometimes it changes its name or becomes a number instead. Suki Pearl - I hold you responsible.
