A farmer has 19 sheep on his land. One day, a big storm hits and all but seven run away. How many sheep does the farmer have left?

You planted sunflower ? seeds in your back garden. Every day, the number of flowers doubles. If it takes 52 days for the flowers to fill the garden, how many days would it take for them to fill half the garden?

Sheeps still sheeping presumably so 19 although it might take a while to find them. If the runaways got killed (hit by passing car or lightening or stolen by a neighbour) then he has 7. If he is a good Christian shepherd then he knows:

"The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.", and is probably still looking.

Isn't it odd that there seems to be only two, wildly different, answers for the first puzzle. I think it's 96, but I'm damned if I can even work out how people are arriving at 40! I would love to know! (but please don't put it on here, because it may be the right answer and we're not meant to give spoilers )
