How many kinds of mince pies have you sampled so far?

I’ve tried 2 but neither were from a supermarket. One was from a cafe and the other was from a food and craft fayre yesterday. Neither were anything to write home about.

I’m not buying any from a supermarket till nearer the festivities as I can’t be trusted with a box of 6 in the house. In previous years our favourites have been Waitrose all butter and Tesco the best range.

None yet, (medal medal - as Muttley would say) as firstly I am diabetic and am so far keeping watch on what I eat. Cant say this good behaviour will last all the way to new year though! I used to make fantastic ones , pastry made with butter and orange juice, own mincemeat, and then a blob of cream on the mincemeat and pastry on top. Delicious but how many calories I wouldnt like to say!

Too early, I never buy any.
I prefer my own.

None. I also don't like them. I prefer savoury and I prefer turkey legs to breast.

Our Sainsburys has been selling hot cross buns ever since last Easter. Being a traditionalist I really don't approve of this but the apple and cinnamon ones are lovely, so every so often I succumb to temptation...

I haven’t had even one yet. I don’t buy any - always too much pastry in shop ones for me, but will make the first batch on Dec 1st. I make them in old style shallow bun tins, with just a pastry star on top.
Will need to make dozens just before Christmas, to take to a big extended family bash up north.

I like to make mine with a bakewell tart topping complete with flaked almonds. Yum.

Asda Exceptional Brown Butter and Rum are nice but you only get 4 in a box so not as good value.

DH bought some standard ones from Sainsburys, ate part of one and then threw the rest away.
I make my own but not till December.

However If I did , I would try the Waitrose Brown Butter ones that Which? Magazine gave top marks to this year.

Mollynew I’d happily eat hot cross buns all year. They’re smaller than fruited teacakes and have a higher ratio of fruit.
Thanks to Sainsbury's, I’m still enjoying them now. I don’t like mince pies.

Another on a diet, although I don’t have a sweet tooth I’ll probably have a couple on the day.
So 0, could do better.

I have ordered four frangipane topped mince pies from Tesco to be delivered on Friday. I haven't had any so far.

I had some all butter ones from Waitrose and they were very good.

In a box MollyNew just the standard ones, I think warming them makes a big difference.

It’s food.
We can please ourselves if it’s in the shops , after all, do you eat sprouts/ turkey/ or roast potatoes at other times of year? What about hot cross buns? As soon as something hits the shops and I like it then I buy it.
I had a very nice mince pie in Costa last week.😋

I am coeliac and don’t really eat pastries but said to my DH last night I really fancy a mince pie. He looked at me a bit shocked. So I’ll head to Waitrose or M&S as I may as well push the boat out x

Oreo I can save you work. After extensive research last year we concluded that the Co-op's all butter mince pies are the best.
We have checked this year and they haven't deteriorated.

They were def second on my list. I warm them in the microwave for about 6 seconds, a blob of cream or ice cream adds deliciousness.
How can anyone resist buying them?🤷🏼‍♀️
