Sometimes, my husband and I enjoy having brunch during the week at home instead of a typical Menu del Día as we live in The Madrid Capital.
Eggs Benedict is quite versatile and can be prepared with either Smoked Salmon or Bacon or Ham. Eggs Florentine is quite a healthy alternative and French toast is always quite endearing.

Today we had shared a very interesting salad out, and the ingredients included were:
Blueberries, algae, black cabbage, beet root and salmon .. Quite a contemporary pleasantry ..
Rich in anti oxidants and minerals, the salmon was grilled ever so slightly and had a orange drizzle, not a full sauce however, just a drizzle which created a lovely palate experience ..
Our starter was freshly grilled large prawns de-shelled and de-veined and served with 3 dipping salsas:
Black Olive
Tartar with Fresh Dill
A lightly piquant chili dip
Wine was a simple Prosecco Rose.
Dessert: We shared a lite version of a cheesecake with strawberries on top. Lite and polished off the meal with an Earl Grey.

Lunch:
Prepared a Zuppa di Pesce, a shellfish and fish stew with tomatoes de-seeded and peeled, Extra virgin olive oil, garlic, leek, shallot, dry white wine, sea bass, northern haddock and fresh cod with mussels and clams. Prepared in a Dutch Oven, stove top.
A lovely Cambados Albariño Pazo de Señorans and fruits with cheese assortment for dessert ..
Sunday: 16 / 06 ..
Lunch:
Today, I prepared homemade Moussaka with green bell peppers, ground beef, dry red wine, tomato paste, Italian style tinned tomatoes San Marzano, onion, extra virgin olive oil, paprika, a pinch of nutmeg and aubergines.
Turned out lovely.
The wine was a Greek Rosé from Crete - very refreshing.
Dessert: Greek yogurt with fresh fruits - strawberries and blue berries and peaches.

Today I prepared a dish of Chicken Cous Cous with fresh vegetables. Turned out wonderful ..

Lunch today was a Caesar Salad without poultry / chicken ..
The main was a Spanish wild cod fish recipe called:
Bacalaó al ajoarriero .. Which is;
Cod fish, onion, green bell, garlic, choricero which is a dried pepper, tomato sauce from scratch, Extra virgin olive oil, a chili pepper (dried called a guindilla) and cod broth baked in the oven.
Was wonderful. The fish was very fresh and truly exquisite.
No dessert.
We had a lovely Prosecco to pair with.
Brunch at home offers such a cozy vibe.
Eggs Benedict with different toppings, Eggs Florentine for a healthier option and French toast for a sweet treat... all great choices!
I had tomato soup and ice-cream with raspberry sauce for my lunch, I had chicken Kiev, roast potatoes done in the air fryer and asparagus for my dinner it’s no wonder I’m putting the weight on - must be careful

Of course brunch at home is lovely too .. Grand fans of Eggs Benedict .. I truly enjoy the smoked salmon version and my husband, the Iberian Ham version.
The Hollandaise is the key and the crumpets ( English Muffins ).

The 22nd of June 2024 ..
Both Wednesday and Thursday I had business travel and could not post ..
However, today I am preparing a fresh cod fish tagine ..
I marinate the cod in Charmoula, which is cumin, cilantro, paprika, garlic with tumeric and saffron.
Then I place the tomatoes, carrots, onion, lemon thinly sliced, ground black peppercorns, red bell stips, Kalamata black olives and the fish baked in the oven.
This shall be the main course.
Then to start off with, goat cheese cigars !!! I use Montrachet goat cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, salt and black pepper and wonton wrappers and I sauté in olive oil or one can bake on a cookie tray as well.
Dessert: Very very lite !! Fresh blueberries and fresh strawberries and canteloupe chunks ..

Here it is Brunch as even in Spain, everyone says Brunch.
Breakfast is served 7am - 9am in most bars and
Brunch is served from 11am - 14.00 and brunch is takes the place of lunch at the weekends here in the city of Madrid.

We started with a Caprese Salad with Mozzarella di Bufala, cherry tomatoes and fresh basil drizzled with Extra virgin olive oil and Balsamic vinegar.
The main course was grilled rare Entrecôt ..
Fresh peaches and fresh cherries for dessert. Divine !!
Monday Lunch: 24 / 06 / 2024 ..
Today, temperatures has risen and it is quite warm here.
Our starter was a simple Greek salad including cucmber, tomato, red bell, tri color lettuces, Kalamata olives, feta cheese and a lite version of Extra virgin olive oil a drizzle of red wine vinegar ..
And a French Omelette ..
A home made Sangria with berries ..
Wednesday Lunch: 26 / 06 / 2024:
Today we had Baked & Stuffed Red Peppers with ground beef mince and rice .. Maximum taste and wonderfully implemented. A lovely dish at home.
Served with a lovely Rosé from Navarra.
We decided upon a desert verses a starter !!
Dessert: Bartlett Pear, pear liquor William Poire French and almond tart (from our local bakery) and a lovely iced coffee.
Thursday - the 27th of June 2024 ..
Quite hot today so we ventured to our corner bar - restaurant, and I had fried Calamari with ali oli ( sort of a tartar - mayonnaise type dip) and a Glass of chilled white wine.
My hubby had croquettes filled with cod and a beer.
Nice and simple and we caught up with one of the owners who had an operation. So, we were pleased to see him and know that he is doing well back at work.

Today we went to have a wine and a stroll ..
We stopped at El Abuelo (The Grandfather) renowned for their tapas ..
Could not resist.
This is quite a historic bar / tavern / tapas bar ..
I had grilled prawns and my husband had Pulpo a la feira, which is tender octopus served on a wooden board with cachuelos, a Galician yellow potato sliced finely and a drizzle of Extra virgin olive oil and a sprinkle of paprika.
Wine: Galician Albariño white wine ..
