If it uses fresh tomatoes, that’d be good if and when you have a glut. I wouldn’t use fresh at the moment - a tin of chopped would have to do.
An Italian friend told me he always kept some home made tomato sauce in the fridge - onions and celery (for flavour) were his essentials beside the tomatoes.
