Your favourite cook ?

My husband, simply because he does all the cooking!
But on the rare occasions I do venture into the kitchen my favourite recipes are usually Mary Berry or Hairy Bikers. Tasty, easy dishes that even I can manage.

My favourite has to be Phil Vickery. His turkey recipe has been the best thing I have ever used, for the last four Christmas dinners.
James Martin, a close second for his no nonsense recipes.

Delia for me with Simon Hopkinson a close second but I love watching James Martin and the Hairy Bikers and Paul Hollywood got me into baking my own bread.

Raymond Blanc for the simple reason he was born and bred not very far from me- so uses terroir local produce that I know well.

And Monica Galetti as she is married to someone who also is a local here- for the same reasons.

My daughters are both brilliant cooks ... of course they had a good role model!! I love James Martin (who wouldn't?) and Mary B generally and Nigella for cakes, but many of my "go to" recipes are from magazines or cut out for the "Supercook" (collected magazines to build a cooks encyclopedia - threw rest away as took up too much space - though sometimes wish I'd kept them!)

I like to check up on John Kirkwood, following him has got me cooking really good Sour Dough Bread. His recipes can be watched on YouTube, he is also on Facebook. Someone else who has come onto my radar is Gemma Stafford, her recipes are really good and a lot of different ideas. She can be found on Facebook, her website is biggerbolderbaking.com. She even has a recipe for Biscoff biscuits which turned out excellent. But mustn't forget the lovely James Martin. He can cook for me anytime!

I forgot about Simon Hopkinson. I'm a fan too.

Nortsat my Nigel Slater 30 minute Cookbook is falling apart, as is my Madhur Jaffrey, so it must be those 2. We always have Nigel Slater's roast duck on New Year's Eve if we are in!

Actually, I agree with Mawbe,it depends what for - that's why I have shelves full of cookbooks.

I tear recipes out of magazine, newspapers etc all the time. They get dumped in the basket on my work surface. Periodically I go through them looking for a recipe and discard half the things in there. If we like a torn out recipes it goes into one of my folders in a plastic sleeve. Don't I sound organised!!

I don't have a favourite although, of the ones already mentioned, probably Hairy Bikers, but my least favourite is James Martin. His recipes are a heart attack waiting to happen. Actually, he's second worst because Gordon Ramsay would have to take that place simply because I don't like the man.

I chucked all my cookery books as I can find everything on line.

oh yes, Marguerite Patten, i also had her book as an engagement present many moons ago lol...was it her 'everyday cookbook?...still got it, spine looks rather battered...

I loved watching Delia on the tele. Now my favourite is Mary Berry, though I have only recently discovered the Hairy Bikers. However, I was absolutely over the moon a few days ago to discover that I butter my toast the same way as Nigella!!

I have never read a recipe book and the only cooking programme I used to watch was Keith Floyd, mainly because it was funny when he got drunk. I must have just watched my mum to know how to make pastry etc. Just remembered I did cookery at school so that was where I got my info from.

I was given an Ottolenghi box of spices with a recipe book one Christmas. Love the recipes. Love Middle Eastern cooking,. All those pomegranates, aubergines an labneh. Scrumptious
