Many thanks for my books which arrived this morning. The DGDs will love the cookery course and I'm looking forward to getting stuck into Recipe For Life.

Recipe book received - thank you very much. I was thinking of giving it to my daughter, as she has 2 growing boys to feed, but having flipped through it I'm very tempted to keep it for myself!

I tried to bake a nice cake with a cherry
but it sank and now I'm not feeling merry
the cherry should've first been dusted with flour
but it's much too late now.
please! don't tell Mary Berry.

Recipes practised to perfection
to prevent Paul and Marys rejection,
but things don't go to plan
"It was fine baked at home"
to buy them is now my intention.

I had a dream....

I'm in the Great British Bake Off.
I was chosen from thousands you see.
The cameras are rolling, the ovens are on
It's Paul, Mary Berry and me.

The timer is on, the ingredients ready,
Now come on old girl, keep your hand steady.
Madeira Cake, Black Forest Gateaux,
I think I'll make mine in the shape of a châteaux.

Cake in the oven starting to rise,
Wonderful aroma, that's a surprise!
Decorated carefully, not much more to do.
Have I done it properly, have I thought it through?

Cake stand on the table with châteaux gateaux atop.
I hope when I take it for judging it isn't marked a flop.
So now the day is over, its nearly time for tea,
And there in the tent after judging, stand Paul, Mary Berry and me.

More yummy cakes for my belly,
Each week it's a flan,
A tart or meringue,
I look like I've eaten a welly!

If only I was as good as Mary
and could bake cakes light & airy
but the thing about Mary Berry
is her trick is lots of sherry!
I love watching the Bake Off
and seeing all those cakes to scoff

We have known Mary for many years,

she gave us the courage to give it a go.

She demonstrated how to aerate and fold

There was a old lady from Nantucket
who made some bread in a bucket
slicing was tough
and the texture so rough
that all she could do was suck it!

One day as I mused by a lake,
My thoughts wandered over to cake.
I'm no good at baking, so my mind was just faking,
Can someone please teach me to bake?!

I decided a cake I would bake
Red velvet I thought I would make,
I got all the "stuff"
Mary said was enough,
The result was a beautiful cake.
