thatbags, it did, but I am away next weekend. In my student days we had a regular weekly debate organised by the Student's Union. Quite high profile, though not as much as Oxbridge, I was a regular both speaking from the floor and, at times from the table. I even travelled a bit and was one of the first, but, not I think the very first, woman to speak at the Durham Union. Someone came up to me after the event and congratulated me; 'for a woman I really spoke very well'. I turned on my heel and walked away.

Good website, bags. I just picked one neuro-scientific paper on theories about brain development in children from gestation to three i.e. are children's brains fixed in their development by the time they are three? Many examples given of policies about children in health, education and social intervention that are predicated on no consistent evidence, but myths and ideologies. Lots of links and references to satisfy the need to know more.

Thank you, bags, I have read some of it and will continue to read it with interest, but I don't think I will be making any contributions. I have come to the conclusion that the people who share my views will make all the necessary comments and that there are people who will never agree with me no matter how logical and reasoned my contributions may be.
We saw on the 'bedroom tax' threads that people with entrenched views simply ignore all posts which don't agree with their own views.
For myself, I remain a staunch atheist and will continue to oppose any link between church and state, but by discussion with an intelligent and reasonable believer I have come to accept that not everything done in the name of religion is bad!
