I’m assuming that the Royal Mail have lost the letter. This month they have managed to lose a driving license and two pairs of boots

Hi Fanny the letter says that the NHS is using new treatments for coronavirus.

It says 'your medical records show that you might be suitable for these treatments if a PCR test confirms that you have coronavirus'.

It is a pretty long letter but goes on to say that 'if the PCR test shows that you have got coronavirus, the NHS will contact you within 24 hours to arrange a telephone appointment with a health professional'.

As I said earlier the only thing we can think of is that my DH had blood cancer some years ago and had chemotherapy.

My DH didn’t get a letter

My husband received the letter last week. He is not ECV but has had blood cancer in the past, that is the only reason that we can think of for him receiving the letter.

We are still awaiting the arrival of the PCR kit.

I can understand how worried and confused you have been; remember that when you are feeling ill you can feel much worse about things, even depressed.

I thought I'd update you as some posters were kind enough to be concerned about my DH being +ve when we were both exposed to Covid together and I am immunocompromised. Well it's nearly a week now and DH seems absolutely fine. We've both had cold-like symptoms and I'm still suffering, it's not 'flu but it's worse than a cold.

I have had 2 PCR tests (drive-in Covid test centres), the second at the instigation of my hospital team. Also, because I'm a close contact of someone with Covid I am carrying out LFTs every day.

Would you believe it - so far, all but one test has been negative! The last PCR result came back today as 'could not be read'. I am advised to carry out yet another one.

I am keeping my home PCR test 'just in case'. PCR test results from drive-in centres seem to come back very quickly. I think they are more likely to be faster than the local 'Priority Post' from my village.

I know I'm really vulnerable (I've packed a hospital bag) but I really don't understand what is going on. I feel there is some malign influence that is just enjoying playing with me.

I thought I'd let you know that diagnosis isn't straight-forward, even if the NHS put systems in place to support the clinically vulnerable.

I received the letter as few weeks ago. Not sure why I am immune suppressed, I take a very low dose of steroids daily but I have an immune disease with both my liver and my lungs and a few other immune diseases so I think it must be that. Anyway If my pcr test doesn’t arrive then I have a number to ring and must quote my NHS number as it red flagged and everything will move quickly. Or it said I could ring my doctor and they will notify the nhs. Also just had my booster, which was my 4th jab.

Amazon are delivering testing kits of both varieties along side the Royal Mail

ixion if it’s the same test kit that my husband has, you only have to do the test if you have symptoms.
If it tests positive then they will send you the antiviral drugs

I'm glad I'd read about it on here first, or I'd have been imagining all sorts - successful treatment for Non Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2013 played hell with my anxiety: it's a lot better now, it's not constant, but it does tend to do nought to sixty pretty quickly.

Now that I pause to read the leaflet properly, it's only to be used if I have symptoms, which I don't, so I'll wait until I do, of I do. Then, I may be suitable for new treatments, it says.

In the meantime, I'll carry on masking/sanitising/distancing/generally being sensible.

Mr I has just received a received kit this morning through the post - but not having requested one!
Apparently, as per the leaflet, this is because his records mean he may benefit from additional treatment if necessary?‍♀️

He has done the test but there is no 10 digit code he needs to proceed, since he never had an email at all with this on...

The post goes in an hour - please, can ANYBODY help?

Boxing Day and my young grandson just told me the postman has been. I thought he was mistaken but my PCR test has arrived! Great service.

Ah! I wonder if I am on it because I am taking thyroid blockers for Graves Disease?

That would make sense, as I am not on the ECV list, but they will make me immunosuppressed. I also have Pernicious Anaemia.

I thought that too, Massimo, hence my email to the Chief Medical Officer, asking why it's not being offered to the immunosuppressed in Scotland.
