Whenever I go into a shop or supermarket I wear a mask and try and keep away from people. I get sick of the people who just come up to you to get something off the shelf next to you instead of keeping 2 metres away. That annoys me to death, I feel like shouting at them

Anyone fed up with people not following the rules
(248 Posts)Do people not understand the rules . Am in tier 2 and the amount of people having visitors in my neighbourhood is unbelievable . Not seen my grandchildren for weeks or spending Xmas with them .Does anyone else think its selfish.
It annoys me as well that people don't think the rules apply to them. Unfortunately there are books promoting the idea that covid is not actually real and that its all a plan to take away our rights.
These are probably the same people who protested in London, rushed to London to do their Christmas shopping and don't give a second thought to safety. No wonder London is in Tier 3.
If people refuse to do what is sensible and believe delusions then who knows what will happen
I won't be going to the shops as there is nothing that money can buy that would make me want to risk my loved ones.
Went out to a reasonably sized market town this morning. Every single person I saw was wearing a mask- inside and outside. Shops were incredibly strict: monitoring numbers, chaining the entrance if they reached capacity and having a member of staff ensuring hand sanitizer was used. Perhaps that is why the area is still in Tier2....,,,
I am not a scientist but, worked for forty years in the NHS, mostly as a ward sister. I get so cross with these experts who know so much more than the scientists, all of whom, so they believe, are part of a world-wide conspiracy to trick the masses into wrecking their countries’ economies. For goodness sake!
In June 2020, Corona, False Alarm? exploded into the German market, selling 200,000 copies and 75,000 e-books in six weeks.
But, look at the graph to see what happened next: www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1CHBF_enGB891GB891&ei=-prXX6zZCaHE8gLS5ZmoBg&q=covid19+germany&oq=covid19+germany&gs_lcp=CgZwc3ktYWIQAzINCAAQsQMQgwEQyQMQCjIECAAQCjIECAAQCjIECAAQCjIECAAQCjIECAAQCjIECAAQCjIECAAQCjoICAAQ6gIQjwE6BQgAEJECOgsIABCxAxCDARCRAjoECAAQQzoKCAAQsQMQgwEQQzoLCC4QsQMQxwEQowI6CAgAELEDEIMBOggILhCxAxCDAToOCC4QsQMQgwEQxwEQowI6CAgAEMkDEJECOgUIABCxAzoCCAA6CwgAELEDEMkDEJECOggIABCxAxCRAjoKCC4QxwEQrwEQQzoECC4QQzoHCAAQsQMQQzoKCAAQsQMQyQMQCjoHCAAQsQMQCjoFCAAQyQM6CggAELEDEIMBEApKBQgIEgExUKBwWO2iAWDCpQFoAXAAeACAAZcBiAHLC5IBAzkuNpgBAKABAaoBB2d3cy13aXqwAQrAAQE&sclient=psy-ab&ved=0ahUKEwisvo6E-s3tAhUholwKHdJyBmUQ4dUDCA0&uact=5
At least Amazon banned the book, finally. It's done a lot of damage though and there are plenty of other books like it. Someone's made a lot of money! All those conspiracy theories and silly books full of hoaxes have lead so many people astray and made them compromise their own health and their family's health. So sad
I know denial is a coping mechanism and I can totally see why someone would want to believe a pretty lie over a brutal truth.... The truth is really brutal and scary, but we must take measures to stay healthy and keep our loved ones healthy. Presence is way more important than presents, but I fear that some people might only find this when it's too late.
If I saw a shopper without a mask in Tesco I hope I'd have the energy to demand he put his mask on.
Well said Bluebells, if everyone did everything by the book this corrupt government would still lock us up. ?

Yes, I volunteered for the vaccine trials for Covid-19, and I religiously wear a mask - as it has been PROVEN that doing so slows down the spread of the virus, which can be transmitted in microscopic particles in your breath, when you sneeze or cough or talk too closely to another person. I'm not worried about you getting the virus, that's your choice, but I AM worried about you carrying it and passing it on to some other person by selfishly refusing to wear a mask. My beloved husband died of Covid-19: it was not a pretty way to die and I deeply resent and despise people like you who accuse mask wearers of being gullible. You may not want to believe the science but the facts are incontrovertible.
Poshpaws I am so sorry for your loss and that you have to read such tripe on head about not wearing a mask
for you Poshpaws. I am so sorry for your loss.

Two wolves. At last a sane person. I do wear a mask but personally think they’re useless. Wasn’t it the government who said in April that masks don’t work
When we weren’t paranoid about catching something with a 99% recovery rate, and not wearing the face nappy and not continuously sanitising hands the infection rate was much lower
Why do you say face nappy in that silly disparaging way ? What a selfish attitude which I hope you’re urge not passing on to any children or grandchildren you may have.

On here, not on head.

What a pity they don't ban you for being rude in Italian.
i think we have to use our common sense here, we are guided by the government who,i think anyway, have a very stressful and extremely difficult job to do, we know wearing masks and social distancing is the best we can do to avoid the virus so we should just do it and not take unneccesary risks
So sorry for your loss.

Neighbours of mine both consultants working in hospitals sometimes with Covid patients have this week had several friends of the children home for tea, friends for dinner on Friday evening and friends for lunch yesterday. They weren’t in the garden either !
Good for them. Perhaps they know something we mere plebs are not being told.
The mask wearing message has been constant throughout - there’s nothing to misunderstand.
It would seem in the current epidemic that it has become very obvious how many in our society have become to totally selfish and have no respect for others and their health. We will continue to wear masks and stick to the rules as we want to survive the current crisis and care enough about our fellow humans to want to protect them too. Thank you to the carers, NHS staff and essential workers who do their utmost to keep us all safe.
There's a saying:-
Man makes plans - God laughs
Let's adapt it a bit:-
People wear facemasks - Coronavirus laughs
It's not going to be stopped by a scrap of material.
I hope I'm around when, in a few years, and this is all over, the government admits that facemasks never worked or at least had only a very limited effect.
Masks ....the principle of a mask having some effect to provide protections seems entirely sensible to me even if the science cannot categorically prove it.

Fine! Believe what you want! Just keep clear of other people!

So TwoWolves even if it was only a very limited effect it’s still too much hardship for you to wear one? Even though it’s to protect others around you? You appear to be saying your fellow human beings don’t matter as long as you are comfortable.
Please be considerate to the staff if you are unfortunate enough to end up in hospital for any reason. When the nurses and doctors are at your bedside or standing over you in the operating theatre tell them to remove their masks and have a breather as there is no need to wear them.
There have been numerous studies which show that masks do confer a benefit. This was admittedly undermined by claims that a Danish study showed no benefit. However, scientists have taken pains to re-examine the Danish data and the worst that can be said is that, as yet, the evidence is not fully robust in favour of masks, however it is mounting.

suelld - I am sight impaired and getting around without specs is impossible for me, and any extra loss of vision due to them misting makes life very difficult.
The trick is to find a mask that can be won so that the material sits well up the nose and the specs sit upon the material. I got mine from ebay, though I had to modify some by making the material a little lower on the cheeks so that when I push the nose part to where I need it the rest of the mask is not right up to my eyes. Etsy have all sorts of people making them as well.
A nose strip that makes the mask sit snuggly around the nose also helps. Many have them built in but if not you can buy a pack of 10 for about £2.50 on ebay and easily sew then in yourself.
