Our garden is a wildlife sanctuary in contrast with the sterile farmed fields around us. We have only cut our lawn once this year (last week to tidy for winter) as it harbours grass snakes, slow worms, glow worms, and I use the grass clippings to make refuges for these creatures. Sadly we have no hedgehogs, I put this down to the intensive farming around us. Otherwise, we try to live consuming as little as possible.
