I may just possibly tell little white lies when I see other families’ babies. Of course they’re wonderful and I’m delighted they’re so loved. But secretly I know they’re really not quite as wonderful as ours (please keep my secret!)

When my daughter was young she wouldn’t try strawberries however she came back from nursery once and announced that she really liked their strawberries. So I hatched a plan, with the help of the nursery manager, and I took in a punnet of strawberries which I hid from my daughter and a plastic Tupperware box which was empty. You’ve probably guessed it by now, every evening we used to take the Tupperware box home filled with strawberries which my daughter thought came from the nursery and she would eat these at home because they were nursery strawberries. Now she has grown up she knows the truth, however she is still a finicky eater!

So I didn't hurt people's feelings, I pretend to like their presents to me even if I really don't like them.

Phoned in sick to work so I could go on a school trip - definitely worth it haha

I told a little white lie yesterday. My Daughter-in-law cut my grandsons hair and asked if I liked it. It was shocking but I said yes it suits him. I'm hoping his hair grows before he has to go back to school.

When I was about 7 my mum had made cakes for our school fete to sell for charity, they looked so nice and yummy. I took two and ate them, mum asked me and my sister later on that day who eat two of the cakes and I said my sister did and she got the blame. My mum still doesn't no it was me!

Yes, I have told little white lies, so as to not hurt someones feelings, like a present given, and don't like. Also if I am peasce keeping, between the siblings, has so and so said so on about so and so. What are you talking about??? I don't know about that no one has said anything. to keep the peace. It works usually, my cover has been blown now??????

Like so many others on here, I had to lie about liking a present. It was Mothers' Day and I was in bed, thinking how nice it would be to get some chocolates or some pretty flowers. Instead, my children presented me with an eyeshadow palette in various shades of purple! I had to smile and say, "How lovely". Years later, my eldest daughter recalled giving it to me and said, "Mum, how could you have smiled. It was horrific!"

When I was about 8 years old, most little girls had long dresses for parties and 'best'. One day, when I was playing in our garden and all the washing was on the line, 2 little girls who lived next-door-but-one and belonged to a very loving but poor family, called over to me and asked, admiringly, "Is that your long dress?" They were actually pointing to my nightie but I knew that, for them, it still looked like a lovely dress and I didn't want to make them feel silly - or envious - by telling the truth, so I just said yes, it was my long dress. That's one white lie that I'm quite proud of!

I think we all tell them on a regular basis. For me in most cases it would be to protect someones feelings

Im afraid i have to tell them quite often, I officiate at weddings and have been heard to tell brides wearing the most hideous dresses and outfits that they look amazing, stunning, wonderful, and many other superlatives. Its really to try and ease their nervousness, make them feel better if they are apprehensive. I really do do it with the best intentions and only once was I unable to make any comment at all at an outfit, so I commented on her flowers and makeup instead. Forgive me brides!!!!!

When working for a haulage company it was daily standard practice to give excuses why goods were delivered late.

Oh lots of times,you have to to avoid upsetting people or sometimes to help them
