I light a scented candle and go through the photo albums of my children and grandchildren, including some of the scan pictures taken when the grandchildren were the size of a plum - and realise how lucky I am to have such wonderful people big and small in my life. It's very therapeutic.
I have trouble allowing myself to relax, but I have found something that helps: I set up my iPad on a table next to the bath and watch something relaxing while I soak. Current favourites are 'Who do you think you are?' and 'Escape to the country'. Long, cosy programmes, for long, cosy evenings in the bath!
After working hard at an exercise class (my current favourite is Kettlercise), I like to enjoy a hot shower. Once my hair is dried and I’m wearing comfortable clothes, I like to curl up by a log fire and read a gripping psychological thriller. A glass of wine at the weekend is a bonus, otherwise a mug of coffee is welcomed. Bliss.
I either go for a walk or a cycle ride if the weather allows or I do my family tree. From being adopted and having no knowledge of my family with a bit of research I now have family all over the USA as well as the UK . Can be distracted for hours trying to make sure I have the right links.
