The Silver Brumby by Elyne Mitchell - such happy memories of reading this, I read it until it fell apart! Funnily enough I bought a new copy to read to my little boy a couple of months ago

I really enjoyed Flowers in the attic and the sequels. My heart broke to find this sad and lonely story is based on real events! My home life was horendous so I felt real emphathy whist reading it. Both my grown up Daughters loved reading them too once they were old enough

My favourite books as a child were 'What Katy Did' & Rupert Bear remember reading them when I was confined to bed with Measles, in a darkened room.They inspired my imagination & my love for reading ,which has continued to this day!

I used to love The Mallory Towers books by Enid Blyton I thought being in boarding school must be amazing

I loved the Enid Blyton books, they were just so exciting

I loved the wishing chair by Enid bylton, our year 5 teacher read it to us every week and I couldn’t wait to hear the next instalment. It was so magical and something I think I needed at that time in my life whilst my parents were divorcing and I was being bullied at school- the magic of being able to hop on a chair and go somewhere else where amazing things happened was tantalising.

I loved the Famous Five and Secret Seven books as they were such exciting stories. Later, I got into Agatha Christie books and had read them all by the time I left school. Still love a good 'murder mystery' to this day!

The Secret Garden, Frances Hodgson Burnett, just a fantastic read.

Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe - I would get into my big wooden wardrobe with a torch to read the book by, and lose myself in the fantasy of finding Narnia for myself.

I loved the TWITS by Roald Dahl, read is SO many times, his books are all timeless!

My favourite books were Tin Tin. I used to love the travels to far away places I'd never heard of.

The secret garden was always my favourite, it used to get me thinking about my own garden being such a place.

My favourite books were the Romany books, as I lived in the countryside and liked nature. We had very few books in the house and no access to a library. I marvel at the choice and scope of books that my grandchildren have access to.

Mine was Enid Blyton - The Magic Faraway tree, that book stuck with me through life, was so magical

I had aregular book club and this was sent one day. I loved this, but left it at home when I got my own home and unfortunately my younger sister has now claimed that it is hers- and always was!

All of the chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis. Escapism. Every few years I reread them.

Winnie the Pooh

Pride and Prejudice and it is still one of my favourites. Read it many times over the years

I AM Petrova in Noel Streatfeild's 'Ballet Shoes', or at least, I really thought I was!

One of the best 'girls' books published.

I loved The Children of Cherry-Tree Farm by Enid Blyton. I loved the adventures the children had and learning more about all the wild animals they came across.
