My (2nd) husband has never known the joy of children, we now have our first grandson. He is constantly amazed at how much love and joy he gets from being a Grand parent and how much our Grandson loves being with him, in fact I sometimes feel I don't get a look in. It's truly Grand being a Grandparent for him.

You get to relive all lovely moments you had with your own children, but didnt appreciate fully because you were perhaps too rushed, too tired or you didnt quite realise how special they were!

I wasn't ever a 'grand' till my grandchildren stopped calling me Nanny and started calling me Grandma this seems to happen as they are growing up around the 17 mark I've never really worked out why but they seem to love calling me Grandma when they are older for some strange reason..

Grandparents are the saviours of parents who need a break, the partners in crime to little rascals who like to stomp in mud and the hero of the hour when knees get grazed or a head gets bumped. Grandparents seem to find chocolate behind ears and always have loose change for an ice cream in their pocket. Grandparents are incapable of showing any restraint in toy shops (despite mum and dads grumbling) and have a direct phone line to Santa Claus, the Easter bunny and the tooth fairy. Sometimes grandparents are not with us as long as we want them to be but I've heard word there is an enormous chocolate factory in the sky that they are over-seeing.

GRAND is the feeling of happy exhaustion that we all love so much!

The sheer joy and delight of welcoming a new family member into the fold. Embracing and sharing the challenges and life events that comes with the journey.

Having someone to have a good giggle with, and just enjoying the moment.

Being the backup for every eventuality. But feeling the sheer joy of their love for you, and knowing that they are your grandchildren.

The Grand in Grandparent means you should be listened to. We have been through everything before they have. We have made the mistakes before they were born, so we are only trying to stop them from making the mistakes we did. We only want to protect them, by showing them how much we love them.

The grandness of the job, what a pleasure and responsibility!

It's totally GRAND to have a next generation of family that you love unconditionally as much as you love your own children. That you can love and spoil and be there for, always, the same as you are always there for your own children. It doesn't get any grander than that, ever!

The sign of a good grandparent is when your children are as delighted to see you as your grandchildren are : THEN you know you've got it right !

Giving lots of hugs and kisses.

I always wondered why Grandparents always gushed and bragged about their grand children?. Then I became one 8 months ago and the feelings I had for him as soon as he was born were over whelming and such a grand feeling. Becoming a grand parent is the best feeling in the world. xx

I never had grand parents but for my grandchild I hope i put LOVE, FUN RESPECT and ADVICE into helping with my grandchild.
