Are you sending Christmas cards this year?

Yes, to those who are too far away to hand deliver. The list gets shorter at one end through old friends and family who aren’t with us any more. I hate the crossings out in my address book. It is getting longer at the other, with grandchildren and great grandchildren and a few new friends.
I like to receive them and read the notes inside, but as others have said, they don’t take up so much room any more.

Yes, I will as to me it's part of Christmas and sometimes the only time we might catch up with distant friends, with a quick letter inside.

However, it is sad to have to cross more names off each year. ☹

Like anything else some Christmas traditions change over time.

I used to take a pillow case to bed and get an orange and some nuts in the bottom...

I will send a few to older relatives who seem to equate the number of cards they get with how much they are loved. I don't subscribe to that POV, but as it matters to them I will play along.

Only to friends and family that do not live local to me as I don't see them often so its nice to send a card. The cost of postage puts me off sending too many though !

No, I won't. The cost of postage has scuppered all Christmas wishes. Unless someone is on email, they won't hear from me! Bah, humbug!

Yes I expect so. Went to Tescos this morning to buy postage stamps. They said they hadn’t had any for weeks and have no idea why. Anyone got a guess?

The jury is still out on that. I've sent them for so many years that it would feel odd not to. However the cost of postage is ridiculous.

I send a few to non Jewish friends and workmates, or rather give them rather than send, as postage is way too expensive. The best ever received ones were some very glittery robins.

If I could email a card to all my friends, I would, and give the money saved to charity. Unfortunately I don't have email details for everyone. So, I'll be buying several books of stamps and keeping the Royal Mail busy 😉

Yes, I love sending and receiving cards. For older people especially those like my friend without a mobile phone I often think the cards landing on their doormat must make their day.

I’ve just sorted all Christmas stuff - tree, trimmings, tinsel and you wouldn’t believe how many bottle bags I have…🤭 folks know me too well!

I send fewer cards every year as folks drop (down or off) and one book of stamps does the trick nowadays as most get delivered.

I love all the Christmas traditions so will be sending cards as usual this year albeit to a smaller list of recipients. I love receiving cards and always read them a second time before everything is put away.

I stopped celebrating christmas in 1979 and havnt send a card since. Too expensive.

I don't think royal mail do themselves any favours, a lot of folk can't afford the price of stamps, but the price still goes up,
as another poster said, gone are the days when we had strings of cards on the walls,

I will send a small amount, noehere near as many as I used to.

Reasons being mainly that it seems only a few older people I know bother now, and the exorbitant postage costs.

I' m just about to start making Christmas cards, the list is not as long as it used to be, now I only have half a dozen to post, the rest for neighbours get put through their letterbox, but it's nice to give and recieve them.

Yes, I also enjoy sending and receiving Christmas cards. We are away for a few days shortly, I shall take my cards to write in the evening with a glass of wine. Also start my Christmas letter, which I know not everyone on here likes but my family and friends do. One year I decided not to do one and it caused a bit of a stir for my sister as people kept contacting her saying was all ok with me and mine.

Yes, but nowhere near as many to post as when DH was alive, but I regularly buy stamps when I buy birthday cards, so I’ve enough to use up.
