Hi all, have just sorted new contract for broadband and TV Package starting in 2 weeks…now I have been informed that on the engineer visit which was made yesterday on mobile phone that he will need 2-3 hours at property to drill cables thru wall and to the nearest mast outside 🙈

Has anyone gone through this recently…this was not mentioned on the call and I thought the engineer visit was purely for new router set up as do have an old sky dish installed on outer wall…

Also, if I have a personal alarm which ATM, I don’t have, but maybe in future, they can’t provide this full fibre connection…
Am perplexed…

Can you cancel on the grounds that you have suffered misrepresentation by omission to inform you of this prior to entering into contract. This information would certainly have affected your economic behaviour ie whether you chose to enter into the contract.
Look up consumer rights act.
Good luck.

When we went over to fibre they drilled a hole through the outside wall and placed an inconspicuous box on the outside. We have no problem with that.

we also had the new wires last year, although it says it takes 2 to 3 hours...open reach is not in your house all that time. they led a new wire from the telegraph pole outside put a small box on the outside wall, led a cable up to the room where I have my computer, and placed another small box for the router on the wall, I can still use my landline.we,ve not had any bother .

Same as Dragonfly. Had it put on recently, the hole is tiny, box inconspicuous.

Highland broadband dug the whole road up, put a box outside all the houses, then offered their service! They then had to dig a trench right across the garden and slide the cables under the path to a box on the house, then drilled through the wall and installed the router. They came in first and discussed best options. Altogether half a days work and only an hour in the house including showing me whats what. Did offer more help but I was OK. Left everything clean and tidy.

I have had it for a few months (£29 a month) and was told, no problem, it is installed in my area. How and when is beyond me but it works, that is all I care about.

So you didn’t have an engineer visit and wall drilling?
