Good. Morning all from a fairly bright North Leicestershire.

Preparing a tartiflette for our meal this evening as I have an eye jab appointment at 4pm. DH is struggling with pain and tiredness so won't be able to cook and, anyway, Forest are on TV!!

Have the best day possible everyone.

Grandmabatty Fri 23-Oct-26 08:37:53

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and very grey overhead. Heavy rain is forecast. Glammagran the boys liked Skelly and weren't scared in the slightest. I've brought him in as this weekend isn't looking great.utbb that was a very unkind thing of your friend's daughter to do. Madeleine I hope your ds is on the mend.
Yesterday I had the boys in the morning. They painted Halloween figures I had bought and placed them around the house. Dgs1 was especially cuddly all morning and wanted me to sit beside me. I think he knows something is wrong with his granddad and is seeking comfort. I dropped them off at their aunts and came home where I lay down for half an hour before going to art class. I was glad I had gone as the company was good but I produced nothing worthwhile. I do have a plan for next week though.
Today I intend to go to Aldi and stock up for the week ahead. Then home to catch up on washings etc. I have started a new blood pressure medication and it doesn't agree with me at all. I will give it another day before contacting the surgery. Dinner will be fish of some sort I think. Have a good day all.

I have an appointment at 9.20am with........ my retired GP, who is now doing locum work!

Gingster Fri 23-Oct-26 08:28:14

Good morning all , just getting light and the electrician has already arrived and is getting on with the job.
The company we have used really is first rate. I suppose you get what you pay for, although they weren’t the dearest quote we had. Dh always goes ‘middle of the road’.

Last chap arriving today will be just to make sure everything s ok.

Today I’ll pop up to town to book a quote for new blinds. We were going to put the old ones back up but ds2 recommends new wizzy electric ones. He would! 🤣. We’ll see!

We won’t meet our Friday friends as weather not great and I have things to do. One of our ladies had a kidney removed on Wednesday, she’s home and her Dh said all went well.
I’ll phone her in a day or so. 🙏

I hope your day is better today Marydoll and you get some help from the GP.
Also your son * Madeleine*. Such a worry especially as you’re not close by.

Take care everyone, in this weather. Even down here in Essex, we have yellow warnings.

harrigran Fri 23-Oct-26 08:22:40

Good morning from a dark and very wet NE.
The forecast is for heavy rain all day.
I don't have any plans so will just tidy round, do some reading and then watch TV.
Haven't heard from DS and family, they are on holiday in Yorkshire, I am assuming they are having busy days.
Have a ngood day.

Susan56 Fri 23-Oct-26 08:15:49

I think that was very unkind of the daughter to post a picture of her daughter utbb, no wonder you feel upset.I am pretty sure that most people seeing the picture will share your feelings.

madeleine. I hope you have better news from your son today and Marydoll I hope you get a drs appointment 🙏🏻

GrannyGravy13 Fri 23-Oct-26 08:09:20

Good morning, it’s breezy but the rain has stopped momentarily.

The Imp has gone into school, I have come back to lay on the bed with a latte and my iPad to read all your news.

Of my headache goes (I swam to be going through a period if cluster headaches at the moment) or eases I will go to the gym this morning.

I have onions to prepare for pickling, and some admin to do.

This evening we are going to our local Italian and taking DD and her boys (The Imp and 11yr old will be pleased, it’s one of their favourite restaurants)

Will now catch up with your news 🙋‍♀️

Harris27 Fri 23-Oct-26 08:05:47

Lovely day yesterday we went to our first Christmas fair at the racecourse it was lovely. They played Christmas songs in the background which was a bit weird. We had lunch bought a few bits and totally enjoyed it. My first one done! Today my hair done and a couple of hrs working. Just to keep the brain working, weather in the turn definitely. Have a good day all.

hollysteers Fri 23-Oct-26 08:05:26

Good morning from a dull northwest coast. I’m on cat feeding duty next door and then I’m off to the art group. I’m going to wrap up more today, I’ve been feeling chilly.

I have my Covid jab later today and haven’t booked for a local production tomorrow as not sure how I will feel.
Hope all clear with your scan Mick, thoughts to Madeleine and all🌺

brook2704 Fri 23-Oct-26 08:01:29

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dark and grey, the worst of the storm is due for us over the weekend.
Hoping your son is ok madeleine such a worry
I’m off to the gym this morning for a couple of classes and then home for the afternoon. Yesterdays quiet day didn’t go exactly to plan as I needed to go out, but hopefully the weekend will be quiet
Marydoll ❤️
Have a lovely time in Anglesey latedecember and safe travels
Take care everyone with the stormy weather
Hope everyone has the best day they can, take care all 💐

glammagran Fri 23-Oct-26 07:57:07

Good morning all. Lots of overnight rain but little wind here as yet.

Trip to Waitrose yesterday and we received a steam cleaner from Amazon. Tried it out yesterday afternoon in the shower and was very impressed. They recommend the use of gloves as it heats to boiling point and has 1500w pressure but DH didn’t bother.

GrandmaBatty that’s one scary skeleton. Hope your grandsons won’t be traumatised. 👻 it looks really good.

Hope your MRI went well Mick and your results are good when you get them.

Madeleine your poor son. I hope he gets better quickly; ear pain is very painful.

Hope everyone has a good day and take care if out and about.

Usedtobeblonde Fri 23-Oct-26 07:49:03

Thank you HelterSkelter I am still troubled by it but won’t say anything, I was upset also by the D’s attitude, treating her mum like a child.
I just hope my friend won’t see it on Facebook.

Grammaretto Fri 23-Oct-26 07:47:25

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's a cold morning after a cold night. I may need a knitted night cap if I am to be sleeping in my attic bedroom for another winter.

My Helper arrived and after tea. I cooked while she explored the town and she came to ceilidh dancing which was really good.
We sat talking until midnight.

I have a tech man coming to see why I can't send emails from my phone anymore and other problems. I wrote to my councillor with photos of a local eyesore but it wouldn't "send".😟

Glad your MRI is done Mick and hope everything is fine.🤞

Sorry you are still struggling Marydoll even on days when you don't "over-do-it" 😟

Hope the storm passes by without harm.

RosesandLilac Fri 23-Oct-26 07:45:04

Good morning from a very wet hillside in south Glos, not windy yet but the storm is forecast for late morning.
I’ve had 12 hours sleep! I was so tired I went to bed at 7 last night.
I did get the housework done, five loads of washing (4 dried on the line), bed changed and made egg custard with stewed rhubarb for dinner (very nice)
I’ve signed up online for a year’s membership in botanical painting; I need to have a focus for my painting I’ve decided. So, I will get myself sorted and start it today. It will be good to have a project for the next 12 months. I’ve been wanting to do something more intricate for ages so here goes!
DH is out with tiddler, bigger dog has her lovely dog walker this morning.
I hope you a have a safe and comfortable day despite the storm x
🌹

HelterSkelter1 Fri 23-Oct-26 07:43:21

Usedtobeblonde
I agree that is unkind and spiteful to post such a picture. I doubt if the daughter would appreciate a similar one of her.
And if she thinks that only the old sleep with mouth open she is naive as well as unkind.

NannyJan53 Fri 23-Oct-26 07:42:57

Good morning from a very wet Black Country where it obviously rained overnight.

Yesterday was lovely and sunny, so just right for our walk as it wasn't too hot. Then coffee in the Cafe afterwards. My friend said she would give me a lift. She was way past the time she said, then she rang to see she was lost and couldn't remember where I lived! Bit worrying as she has picked me up many times as we take it in turns to give lifts.

Today we are off to Birmingham late afternoon, to check into the Hotel, as we are going to a gig.

Wishing you all the best day possible

Greyduster Fri 23-Oct-26 07:39:07

Watermeadow, if it’s a problem for you, you might want try a cut resistant glove for your guiding hand. They are not bulky. I use one when I’m carving out blocks for lino cut printing. It’s saved me a fortune in plasters😂! I got it from Dunelm.

EkwaNimitee Fri 23-Oct-26 07:38:59

Good morning Mick and everyone from dark, rainy Carlisle.

Good luck with those MRI results Mick.

Yesterday was a day of cleaning and pottering in the morning, admin and reading in the afternoon.

Today I really would like to get out of the house as I suspect there will be no going out this weekend due to the weather.
I'll see how bad the rain is when it's light. Hopefully I get to drive out to the next village and then on to garden centre for free coffee and a mooch, and then to the deli and butcher further on where I'd like to get some pheasant and partridge.

There will be one or two cleaning jobs that should be done back home, we'll see...

I'm dreading the weekend, I have grave doubts about the shared fence surviving. I have to say I hate shared anything property-wise, I prefer to be 100% in charge.

I hope there's good news from your son, Madeleine and that it's not as bad as it sounds.

Good luck all of you suffering Storm Austen, it sounds bad from listening to the news this morning.
Have the best possible day everyone.

Usedtobeblonde Fri 23-Oct-26 07:32:34

Good morning from Stockport where although it is dark and chilly I don’t think it is raining and we are not expecting any more wind than is usual.
Grateful for small mercies.

Yesterday was a mixed day ,my friend whose birthday it was , seemed more stressed than usual, she kept staring into space and certainly didn’t look well.
We went to Buxton by train which was fine and her D picked us up at the station and we went to a lovely fish restaurant and had a very good meal.
I had chowder which was delicious, but my friend took ages over the part of the meal which she ate and seemed to enjoy it .
She drank a little of the wine she chose but couldn’t finish it, guess who did?

We then went back to her D’s new home for coffee and cake and my friend went straight to sleep .
She woke up very confused and just wasn’t “with it” which is a thing I have seen before, I didn’t know if her D was also alert to it.
She was but didn’t seem worried by it and was rather patronising to her mum.
She was driving us back home which I was pleased about as I was concerned about looking after my friend , she was very confused and just kept chiming in with “ do I owe anybody any money”
Then a couple of hours later I saw her D had put a photograph on Facebook of her mum fast asleep with her mouth gaping open.
I was shocked and upset with her unkindness.

Today will be a restful day for me, I have eaten out three times in the last 6 days and while very pleased I can still do it and enjoy it I am now ready to relax .

I hope the poorlies and worried amongst us have some better times ahead and that the stormy areas are not too bad.

latedecember1963 Fri 23-Oct-26 07:30:40

Thank you, Redcar.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 23-Oct-26 07:29:43

Well, that’s annoying! My message disappeared!

Have a good day.

watermeadow Fri 23-Oct-26 07:29:27

I’m waiting for daylight to take out my dog. It probably won’t get more than half-light all day as heavy rain forecast. Dog won’t wee in the garden so I have to take her out no matter what the weather.
A daughter is coming today to show me how to use a rotary fabric cutter. I am very scared of that blade so have never used one before now. I have to cut out 60 squares.
Hey, it’s getting light!

latedecember1963 Fri 23-Oct-26 07:29:17

Thanks for the tip, Marydoll.
There's a Matalan in Bangor and Llandudno so I'll try there.
Hope you manage to speak to a Dr today. Take care. X

Redcar Fri 23-Oct-26 07:28:27

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, it’s wet and breezy but 12 degrees so very mild. Storm Austen is on its way for later today. I don’t think I’ll go out today - or tomorrow.
I had a walk yesterday, nice and sunny but too late for the dog walkers. Vacuumed the stairs and bedrooms, dug a couple of holes in the garden and put in some plants that had been in their little pots all summer. They’re perennials so will survive the winter and flower next year.
No plans for today but need to tidy the living room and do a stack of ironing.

I hope you get the results of your scan quickly mick and that all is well.

Safe journey to Anglesey latedecember, I hope the forecast storms don’t cause too much disruption for you.

madeleine I hope there’s better news about your son today. His ear sounds very painful.

Thinking of those climbing mountains at the moment, especially marydoll.

Have as good a day as is possible everyone and stay safe in the wind and rain.

Susan56 Fri 23-Oct-26 07:22:16

Good morning from Shropshire.Damp but doesn’t seem as cold this morning.

We enjoyed our exercise class yesterday and the socialising afterwards. We then went to Sainsbury’s where the prices of some everyday items seem to have increased in price since last week.

Today an early appointment then later collect the grandchildren from school and back here for a sleepover.

Wishing everyone a good day🌻🦩
