Good morning from Sheffield
GM do you put a wax disc on top of your preserves or just screw the lid on tight?
I have just made a bucketful of tomato chutney and I worry how long it will keep for.
We are supposed to go to Sherwood Forest today with our daughter and family but it’s pouring down at the moment. We will see how it is in a couple of hours.
I could do with a quiet day to be honest. I feel a bit weary.
Take care everyone flowers

Well done, r&l! Re. jars, I’ve got plenty; want some? 😂

Good morning, it’s a bit damp here in south Glos, we had a few showers yesterday but nothing like Saturday’s downpours.
I seemed to spend a lot of time doing not a lot yesterday 😁, reading and carrying on with the crewelwork. I’m really enjoying it, it’s something different.
Today I will have a go at making plum jam, I need to see how many jam jars I have, other than that nothing special happening.

Good morning from s somerset, steadily cooler just now, day by day but it will be a lovely bright and sunny day

Rather a mixed day yesterday, allotment, sewing, knitting, another episode of a family at war. No noise, no radio, perfect peace

I am not at all sure about this new sewing project, I have had to make adjustments as I go but I am going to plod on with this dress as I like the fabric. I did the back zip, only 15" instead of 24" and it was previously used. That was difficult because slippery, soft viscose has a tendency to move, I needed to use a walking foot but it is done and is invisible and neat. I will do the pockets today

The allotment looked tidy, still and sleepy with bright, ripening squash. I picked tomatoes and a lot of parsley, I have washed and frozen all the leaves, enough for a whole year

I could do with sorting my freezer but probably not for a few days, I want to use some food first, to make some room, so I can see what I have

One of my Dds has an old hen that was being bullied, she sent me a picture of it living happily in a makeshift home in her conservatory. It clucked as she spoke, a proper pet

The day will unfold without me making plans

Good morning from a dry Torbay with a fine day forecast. Yesterday we had several short, sharp showers.

Unfortunately, my DGS3 wasn’t well yesterday when he visited with my DS so we stayed indoors. DGS is 10 and quite an old fashioned lad in his conversation. After I’d enquired about his recent holiday in Majorca, he turned to me and said, “And what’s been going on in your life?”

I’m returning to my exercise class today after a few weeks’ absence. No doubt I’ll be forced to participate seated at times, depending on how my knees co-operate.

Have a good Bank Holiday, everyone! How kind of you to invite lonely folk to be in company, grandMattie!

Good morning from a rather damp Bristol. It has rained in the evening or night, not a lot.
bellas, I was sorry to hear about your DGS’s asthma attack. Could you have an inhaler permanently at your flat, in case of such events?
Yesterday was very quiet, so I made soup, some nutty cookies for this afternoon, and some sewing. I did do a lot of reading, gripped by a sweet but inconsequential book. Light after a rather heavy biography of Cardinal Wolsey.
Tesco this morning, then I’m inviting the lonely residents for a cuppa this afternoon. One can feel very alone on holidays, where one’s family is away doing all sorts, and this at the end of a long empty month.
I hope you have a joyful bank holiday. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🐦‍🔥🦩🦩
