Now here’s a puzzle

BlueBell: those push through "shepherd's crook" earrings are just the type to get caught on a scarf, cardigan or coat. I lost a lovely pearl earring like that when I was wearing a wide scarf whilst out in the winter, they get nudged out of one's ear and drop to the ground. I suppose it is possible that you might get one caught on your clothing if you'd been on public transport?

Hello Bluebell. I have a similar mystery.
While on holiday in Dorset in the year 2000 my husband lost an expensive tie pin. We assumed it had fallen through the boarded floor of the bedroom we had slept in.
About five years later my husband died.
Eighteen months after his death I decided to buy a new car.
As I sat in the driver's seat of our car for the last time I glanced at the passenger seat.
There, right in the centre of the seat was the *tie pin!!*

I remember an aunt telling us that she had left her door ajar when she came in and went upstairs. When she came down she found a woman sitting in her kitchen. She said she needed a sit down. .
Could this have happened? Someone has found the door ajar and come in?

one day a few years ago, I drove my OH to the hospital ,before he left he noticed that his ring was missing from his finger, we looked everywhere, even the other patients in the waiting room were searching for it, but never found it. we got back to where we parked the car looked all around, and under the car, the inside, pushed back the seats,it wasn't there.2 or 3 days later I was hoovering the bedroom and moved the bed and there was his ring,under the bed. he had never even had it at the hospital..

Is there an open window or open door nearby? Dropped by a magpie?

Or tucked away in the folds and crevices of the wrapping from a pack of toilet paper?

Many years ago one of my friends found an earring on her bedroom floor that she knew wasn't hers. To cut a long story short, that was the first inkling she had of "the affair". Her husband rapidly became her ex-husband and they eventually divorced. She was well rid of him!

As AGAA4 says there must be a logical explanation but I certainly can't think of anything that can explain these happenings!

Some time ago I dropped a silver necklace/ pendant on the carpet in the bedroom by my feet…I felt it on my bare foot, bent down to retrieve it and it wasn’t there.
Searched the whole bedroom including DP moving the bed.
Gone!
I thought we must find it when we had new carpet fitted in the bedroom when all furniture was out, but no luck.
Silver with a pearl set in the pendant so if anyone finds it in their larder or on a mantelpiece it’s mine.

I've lost an earring before and then found it in my bra after spending ages looking for it on the floor.

Could it have been brought in attached to your shoe somehow.

If you had a DH or partner this would arouse suspicion and he would be innocent.

I love a mystery such as this!
Bluebelle was the earring for pierced ears and did it have the back piece attached?

Do you have a cat or a dog who could have found the earring and brought it indoors as a little gift for you?

I very, very rarely have visitors and only me uses the downstairs loo, so not that one.
I don’t really buy the caught on your clothes one, but obviously could be by a long stretch, because normally I go straight upstairs from work and change.
I think it’s much more likely that it belongs to Cossy

There is always a logical explanation but sometimes you never find out what it is.

I got my daughter's earring hooked into my hair (I think it was my hair) once. Presumably it was when we hugged each other. I found it when it dropped out.
That was my assumption.

very strange....A sign from above...or maybe you stepped on it outside and it fell off in the loo

My money is on it getting caught up on your clothing……….was it complete, as in a pierced earring with the backing intact? If not, chances are it’s caught up on you on contact and dropped onto the floor as you entered the loo…….mystery solved.
