Morning from South Lanarkshire, nice to see you back fgt.

I’ve been reading while not posting, going through a fallow period. I absolutely take my hat off to you Madeleine, not a trace of self pity in pretty extreme circumstances.

I wonder if your dreams are helping you process the hard stuff Gingster? You’re doing so well with such major changes.

Best wishes to everyone for a good weekend x

Good morning from a wet Central Scotland where it's 13 degrees. The garden will be happy as this is the first 'proper 'rain for months. smile
Today, I may have a clear out as this always lifts my spirits, especially old 'filing' which is really just cluttering up my little study. hmm
Hoping everyone has the best Sunday they can, and thinking of those who are struggling for whatever reason. flowers

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside Sandhills northwest coast.
Spent the rainy day yesterday carrying on with decluttering and practising new songs. I have a fondness for writing letters, now an old fashioned thing to do and wrote to my SIL in the south. I can get more into a letter than a phone call, as long as it doesn’t bore her and she can understand my writing, which I try to make clear. My MIL sent letters which were indecipherable, probably a good thing when it came to her diaries…

I fell asleep and had set my alarm wrongly. This meant I woke late and no time to eat or get ready for the youth production. Rather secretly relieved as I didn’t fancy it too much.

I might have a walk in the dunes at the bottom of the road and tonight to an open mic in the town.

Hello again FGT! Lovely balloon and thoughts to all poorlies🌺

Glammagran I could picture exactly where you were when you described that funeral procession! My DSis's parents-in-law are buried in that cemetery.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, but showers forecast this afternoon.
Yesterday we had a showery morning, then actual heavy rain all afternoon; I managed to get to the shops and back before the heavy stuff thank goodness. It definitely felt much chillier, and I actually put a fleece on indoors.

Organised a few things around my upcoming second cataract surgery the week after next. And also got the cats booked into the cattery for Christmas! One year I left it too late to book at my usual one and had to search round for one that had vacancies. They get booked up quite early.

Did very little apart from that; read the Saturday newspaper, and after dinner watched the excellent Proms concert of James Bond music.

Another quiet day at home today, then roast chicken for dinner.

Wishing all a pleasant day

Good morning from Stockport, like many other places yesterday turned out to be wet.
I wasn’t going out so I didn’t mind but felt sorry for everyone who had organised events for the BH.

Today I am out for Sunday lunch to a recently opened venue , the reports and reviews are good so I am looking forward to it.

Kindest thoughts to those unwell and their carers.
Susan my mother lingered for a few weeks before she died and I know how upsetting it is. Not knowing how you are going to find her from visit to visit is draining.
I hope yours all find some joy today.

Hi good morning from Cheshire thank you monk for welcoming me yesterday. Very damp and still here.

Grandmabatty Sun 30-Aug-26 08:43:08

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and still raining. Susan you have my sympathy.
Yesterday was busy. I caught up with my friend and her daughter for breakfast at the garden centre. Then my own wee family appeared with big hugs from the boys. Afterwards, I had a tesco delivery. Then my neighbour appeared with potatoes and plums from their allotment. After an early dinner, I headed to dds for a couple of hours of babysitting. The boys were no bother. Dgs1 went out on his scooter for a bit while dgs2 watched Bluey on his tablet. Then I took him up to bed, read him a story and that was him. Dgs1 came down for a cuddle and to tell me he loved me. Then dd and dsil came home. I went home but I've had such a bad night. My feet hurt but the gallbladder pain was through the roof. A doctor's appointment is needed I fear.
Today I'm still in pain although it isnt as bad. A quiet day ahead. My friend who recently lost her mum is phoning me at some point for a chat. That might help distract me. Have a good day all.

Good morning from damp South Lanarkshire.

The weather yesterday cooperated with the pilots and the hot air flights went ahead at about 7am.
They fly over our house and are a beautiful sight to see. It was quite a social event with many of the neighbours outside in their pyjamas. I pulled on some clothes, didn’t want to frighten any children.
The sky was quite misty at first and the balloons looked ethereal as they emerged from it. At one point there were so many which were moving so slowly that appeared to be stationary, they looked as if they had been painted onto the sky.
Sadly one didn’t manage to gain enough height and came down around the corner from us.

We walked down to the park with friends in the afternoon to listen to some of the live music and have a wander around the stalls.

Just church today then possibly a little light housework.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

EkwaNimitee Sun 30-Aug-26 08:30:05

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle where it has rained during the night. Good!

I've just come back from a walk in the peaceful park. The swans were still having a lie-in with Dad on guard.

Yesterday I walked up to the further convenience store for the papers and also got some strawberries. Apparently they have been doing well this year due to the heat. Back home, the usual long chat with my sister followed by lunch then a bit of gardening. I'm prepping my veg border ready for installing raised beds. Unfortunately it means transplanting my young foxgloves which have germinated in plenty which has got me struggling to find final resting spots for them.

Today, the rest of it will be gentle pottering and some necessary research for next year's holiday. It seems a long way off but things need booking. After which I hope to finish my book.

I hope you can all enjoy the weekend, best wishes.

RosesandLilac Sun 30-Aug-26 08:29:13

Good morning from a brighter Black Country, where it rained fairly heavily on and off all day yesterday.

We are off to a 21st party this afternoon/evening. MrJ's Great Nephew. Picking up his DD's at a nearby railway station, then to the Hotel we are all booked into. Will be good to see all his family, not very often they all get together.

Now to decide what I am going to wear!

Welcome back FGT

Aww, Gingster, I hope your cottage dreams are of happy times. It shows how much you loved it. 🏡💕

Marydoll Sun 30-Aug-26 08:09:22

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is 12°C.

Madeleine, I copy as I go along, that way you will not lose your post.
I have suggested this, everytime a poster has had this happens
to them.

DS and DIL are doing the Beaton Cancer walk, they will be soaked.
They raised over £2000, } am so proud of them.
We have Dollie, while they are doing it. I asked last night, if she was coming for breakfast. Of course she is, homemade Scotch pancakes, naple strip and strawberries

My morning went way off track. Yesterday: Babydoll arrived at 9am, because she had beeb going on for days days about visiting us.
I had been on a roll with my church work, that went down the Swanee, because she was attached to my hip!
Eventually, I plonked her on the bed, with my mother's button tin and Paw Patrol on the T,V,
I couldn't get peace to dry my hair, having to answer a million question.
She told me, that my hair was messy. I wonder why.♥️
I had a delightful morning (with little work done), especially as she kept telling me, she loved me.🥰

There has been such a spurt in her development, at one point, I felt I was having a conversation with an adult. The move to the big nursery has been so good for her.
Her previous nursery recently failed a Care Commission spot inspection. DH and DIL were very worried.

Susan, how very sad for you.💐

I really must dash, Dollie will be down soon.

Have a lovely time, for those spending time with family. As usual, best wishes for my fellow sick bay members. My mouth is still so painful. I wished I had remained toothless!!!
I will read your pst later, once the café is closed,

latedecember1963 Sun 30-Aug-26 08:02:59

Hello again, FriedGreenTomatoes. 👋

Gingster Sun 30-Aug-26 07:59:29

Good morning and it’s dry, sunny and blue skyed.,
Yesterday we had a lot of rain. Me and little pooch got wet on our walk but just missed a downpour later in the afternoon.

DS1 and DIL came in for coffee and a chat. I got out the paperwork once again for the tax man’s form. I now can’t get hold of the accountant until the earliest Wednesday and time is marching on. Once this is done I’ll be able to relax……until the next one of life’s hurdles. They come thick and fast, don’t they!

I dream every night of our cottage by the sea. I’m sure it will soon pass . I know it was the right time to sell. 😢.

Nothing planned today. I don’t like Bank Holidays any more. I like to have a routine and a focus for each day.

Take care of yourselves 🌺

latedecember1963 Sun 30-Aug-26 07:59:04

Good morning everyone from Lancashire.
What a shame your day out was a let down, Mick. Rainy days out in the UK do tend to become expensive unless you can find somewhere like a free art gallery or museum to pass the time.

So sorry to read that your mum is visibly deteriorating, Susan56. My mum died very suddenly which was a shock but I'm thankful that she didn't have a slow decline which she would have hated. Sending you strength.

DD arrived late morning and we spent the day catching up together.
She distracted the little chap in the garden while I helped DH build the new bed.
The little chap was very excited about it when it was finished. Getting him to stay in it at bedtime was another story! He'll get the idea, but it may take a few evenings of being consistent and calm.

Today at church there's a send off for someone who's been a big part of the church since a youngster and is moving away. He's no idea what's planned so hopefully he'll be pleased that so many people will miss him.

Wishing all those with health troubles a better day.

Did you dispatch the mouse, Marydoll?

Wishing you all the best day possible. 🌻
